Cannot get Hunter stat 44155c that is connected to a Rheem 1210b to shut off after the stat reaches the set temp. How is an original 7 wire connected to the Hunter stat?

y is to condensor contactor wire
c is common
r is power
w/w1 heat strips
o/b reversing valve
e/w2/aux heat strip also
g is blower

For a rheem unit, make sure reversing vavle is set for "B" not O.
Blower may run for up to 120 seconds after shut off. My experience with hunter stats are not good (even out of box). Recommend honeywell tsat.

Aux heat always comes on in heating (Ruud heat pump)

what type of system is it, if it's it Rheem the o/b needs to be set for B, if not check the freon charge, or thermostat, there will be a point where the aux. heat comes on when you turn it up, poss. only 4 degrees, is it a mercury stat or digital ?

We just bought a house that the thermostat had been removed and the wires were just coming out of the wall not labeled. The furnace is a Tempstar gas model 9MPT125L20A serial # LO13778617.As far as we can...

The Red and White wires coming from the furnace are the only ones that call for heat. the Green wire turns on the fan continuously, the yellow is for AC. If you have another wire color, it may be a Common wire and should not be used if your t-Stat has batteries. If no batteries, it goes to the C screw.

Im swithcing from a Janitrol to a hunter ''stat'',

You have the wrong therm. This one will not work, you need one that works with all 7 wires. You probably have a heat pump or aux heat. The only hunter that will work is the one for a heat pump. The back of the packages will tell you more info.

Ruud heating/ac unit blowing only cold air in heating mode

Do you have gas or electric heat. If you have gas then you do not have a heat pump. You should in most cases have a red, yellow, white, and green wires coming to the thermostat. R should go to rc/rh G should go to green Y should go to Y and w should go to W. Also the switches on back should be switched to non heat pump and gas rather than electric. Hope this helps.

Thermostats being replaced often

I have repaired A/C commercial and in dustrial for 40+ years. ( ot of ten times replacing one item as a t-stat 5 times pretty much proves it is not the thermostat. The VA rating on your transformer has to ne able to carry the total load of your circritry.

Yes, I have als seen cases wher a intermitent short occurs in the thermostat cable that has up to 6 different wires in it.

Also "Heat anticipators" in all t-stats (Unless they are automatically controlled) need to be set properly.

You need a AMP reading meter with a Volatage and Resdistence Meter.

I suggest calling a professional. ONE WHO IS LICENSED TO WORK ON THE MODEL OF AIR HANDLER AND CONDENSER YOU HAVE. THE T-STAT MUST BE WIRED CORRECTLY TO THAT SYSTEM. TRANE, CARRIER, RUUD, GOODMAN, ALL ARE DIFFERENT IN COLOR CODES FOR WIRING.

I had one job wher a painter had nailed through the t-stat wire inside the wall and caused a short between the Red (Hot wire) and the ground wire ( in this case it was the blue wire) Depending on the t-stat ... There ar up to eight terminals that need to be i9dentified and then properly wired.

Heat pumps use at least 5-6.

5 t-stats failing is gettin close to $500 of repairs if not more.

Hunter 44630 thermostat

Here is a link that will have wiring diagram it is for a similar model hunter. Also check your dip switch on the back of the stat to ensure it is set for gas (HG) or electric heat (HE) depending on your type of unit. Good Luck. Rule of thumb for most four wire systems is RED (power to stat) Yellow (Cooling) Green (Fan) White (heat)
