Question about Amana Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I was expecting to find this relay. It's not there. My unit has a rather complicated looking circuit board. The circuit board seems to have been made by Emerson Climate Technology. On the top edge of the circuit board is printed "Climate Talk" and the number "4672H". There is also a Bar Code sticker affixed to the circuit board that bears the number 11014630400034. Where do I connect the thermostat wires (red & white)?

Fan always runs, speed doesnt change (low/high), setting humidity level doesnt impact...is this a control board or circuit board issue?

Verify the humidity reading with another device. Perhaps the humidity sensor is dirty or bad.

Another possibility is the switching device that runs the compressor and fan is shorted. If it's a mechanical relay, the contacts may have welded together, or if it's a solid-state relay, it's got a punch-through or meltdown in a device junction. My guess is it's a mechanical relay since you mention it used to click on and off and now you don't hear that. The relay may be on the control board, or it may be mounted separately - I don't have a photo or diagram of the inside of your model available.

What does the warning code F-11 mean? The washer stops at the rinse cycle

F11 is:
Serial Communication Error
Communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly.

Check for:
Check Wire Harness connectors to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
Check the Drive system for any worn or failed components
Check MCU
Check CCU
Check Motor
Check Wire Harness

If all the connections look fine , then its possible the CCU is reading wrong and will need to be changed
I. Remove the top cover by removing the three 7mm screws on the back of the machine at the top. Slide the cover to the rear and lift off. The CCU board has 2 relays on it. They have white plastic covers. One is labeled K4 and I believe the other is K2. There are five legs on each relay soldering them to the circuit board. Remove the circuit board from the machine. It is the one you can see with the top off in the back of the machine. Unplug all the connectors. Unsolder the 2 relays...brand name Omron. With a jewelers screwdriver carefully remove the plastic cover on the K4 relay. Examine the contact points on the normally open contacts and I will guarantee they will look dull and burnt. They should be bright and shiny. You can burnish the contact points lightly and clean them with electrical contact cleaner. If you take off the cover of the 2nd relay you will see the contact points are nice and bright and shiny. Swap the 2 relays and resolder them on the circuit board. While you have the board out, take a pencil eraser and rub it on the contact points where all the connectors slide onto the board. Spray the electrical contact cleaner to wash any residue away. Carefully reinstall the circuit board and replace the top cover. This is a temporary fix and you can expect another failure at some point when the points deteriorate on the swapped relay. At that point I would try and find replacements for both relays. The K2 relay has less voltage going thru the contacts and does not fail. If you feel real comfortable, you can check the "wiping" action of the points by manually operating the relay when you have it out. you can adjust to give a bit more wipe on both relays. I hope this helps...and a vote for my trouble would be greatly appreciated.

Washer gives f11 error code

Here is what fixed mine. Remove the top cover by removing the three screws on the back of the machine at the top. Slide the cover to the rear and lift off. The mother board has 2 relays on it. They have white plastic covers. One is labeled K4 and K2. There are five legs on each relay soldering them to the circuit board. Remove the circuit board from the machine. It is the one you can see with the top off in the back of the machine. Unplug all the connectors. Unsolder the 2 omron relays. With a small screwdriver carefully remove the plastic cover on the K4 relay. look at the contact points on the normally open contacts and I will most likely they will look dull and burnt. They should be bright and shiny. You can clean contact points with contact cleaner and a eraser. If you take off the cover of the 2nd relay you will see the contact points are nice and bright and shiny. Swap the 2 relays and resolder them on the circuit board. While you have the board out, and rub it on the contact points where all the connectors slide onto the board. . reinstall the circuit board and replace the top cover. dozens of loads since I did this with no more problems. I expect another failure at some point when the points deteriorate on the swapped relay. At that point I will try and find replacements for both relays. The K2 relay apparently have less voltage going threw the contacts and does not fail.

Ruud heat pump outside unit not starting. Open and found contactor disengaged even though I have system on from inside. Low voltage wires come out of a circuit board checked for 24v, none. Then bypassed...

If you are getting the low voltage to the relay and it is not closing, then the relay may be either bad or stuck. Disconnect the 220v and see if the contacts can be manually closed. I always use a piece of wood or something non-conductive. If the contacts will close manually, try re--energizing the circuit to see if the relay will now close on its own. If not, you are probably looking at having to replace the relay switch. I had to replace mine last year. As always, be extremely careful working around electrical boxes and capacitors.

Pipes frozen on outside of unit, inside unit does not work

sounds like the compressor relay is stuck in the 'on' position .... hence the compressor will not turn off .... to fix it you will need to turn off the main power (unplug) and take off the front panel then look at the circuit board normally the largest relay on the board is the compressor relay ... sometimes you can snap off the cover or break it off at times and clean the contacts ,give it a little spray with some contact cleaner or lub like wd 40 and that should be it .... alternative to this is just changing the circuit board all together ....

Fan will not shut off, but compressor does

hi! there, continous fan motor when unit was shutt off, since supply source was already cut off specially on fan condenser motor, the supply of your motor was came from relay mounted on your circuit board control panel, there a holding coil to hold the connection between your fan and ac source, shut off breaker for ac unit first before diagnosing ac unit, try to check this out the relay is still activated giving ac source when shut off,the contactor on relay holding your ac supply was shorted, try to check the connection the circuit activating condenser fan relay, eliminate the short circuit, using multi tester test rod,use manual diagram for circuit control board to lessen complicated diagnosing, focus on fan relay ac source then isolate checking the short circuit replace defective relay, contact point of relay are not repairable.take necessary precaution on checking to avoid shock, this a hard task i would suggest that certified ac technician w/ full knowledge of instrumentation should do this.thank's for selecting fixya and have a nice day.

++HAIER 3125. Fan shuts off.

hi! there it seems that your control circuit board is activating default set up or abnormal set up after recieving on control circuit board when you shut off the unit, there's a short circuit behind on holding relay when deactivation process is done, the holding relay should be cutting your entire source connection on compressor terminal when you shut off the unit, in this case try to isolate checking supply voltage behind relay and the supply source terminal of your relay, .try to check on this to your manual circuit diagram to lessen the complication of trouble shooting just focus on relay circiut, replace relay if defective.this is a hard job and should be done by qualified a/c technician. have a nice day regard and thank's a lot

Get error 11

F/11 code means Motor Control Unit (MCU) Heat Sink Thermal Trip
If the thermal protector on the MCU heat sink gets too hot, it will open the thermal protector on the heat sink which will stop motor functions and an "F/10" will be displayed

This is what to check

  • Check for Proper Installation, verify the unit is not located near a source of heat and has proper ventilation.
  • Check Wire Harness connectors to the MCU, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
  • Check the Drive system for any worn or failed components
  • Check MCU
  • Check Motor

Good Luck and Pleaase Rate Fixya!

Westinghouse sb915 will not heat element shows 25 ohms when tested.

Westinghouse SB907 had same problem, which I had thought might be the heating element. Fixed relay soldering on PCB where it was burnt/melted, now works! This probably applies to the Westinghouse SB925 also.

I have a Eureka Central Vac CV1601b. The motor does not stop unless the Unit is unplug from the electrical outlet. Any Idea?.I removed the control unit to check if there was disconnected wires or burnt...

If the unit is relay controlled, there is always the possibility that when the unit was turned on, the relay contacts welded themselves shut making the power button ineffective.

If you're familiar with relay pinouts, with the unit unplugged, verify the contact closures with an ohmmeter or continuity checker. With the unit unplugged, the relay contacts should be in their "normal" state (probably open).

Try gently tapping the relays to see if it can be freed that way. If that works, there's nothing stopping them from welding themselves together again. The relay may need replacement.

Cheers.
