New phone that I've used for a week without problems. Yesterday it shut itself off and I tried to charge but it won't stay charging and I can't get it to stay on. It will say it is charging for about 30 seconds then shuts itself completely off. I've tried another charger and the same problem. I can also get it to come on when plugged into charger but again, only for a few seconds and then it shuts down again. Any ideas?

What you do is power off the machine, and disconnect the negative battery cable. Put a test light or volt meter between the battery negative terminal and the disconnected negative battery cable.

You will likely have a light or voltage reading...Then you start disconnecting things....I suggest the alternator.

When you have the correct component disconnected and the test light or volt meter shows no current.

If this component is the alternator, they have diode sets inside (or somewhere else in the charging circuit) Typically one diode fails and this causes the draw that you describe. The system often still charges, but at a slightly lower capacity with the failed diode.

Nikon Coolpix won't charge no matter what

The internal battery, which is kept charged by the removable battery, has probably run down. Take it to a repair facility.

You may have a hardware problem. It's very common for the charging port in a cell phone to become damaged somehow, which can cause this error. Other possibilities is a damaged battery or damaged power cord. Your best bet is to bring the phone to your carrier's nearest store and have them check it out for you. If it's the battery or the cord, a simple replacement is cheap and quick, but if there's a problem with the phone itself, you'll need to get a new one.

Phone doesn't hold a charge

MzRendevous, It sounds like you do have a battery issue. Batteries for cell phone don't tend to last long, but if you do purchase a battery, try this to get longer life from the battery. 1. Charge the battery without using the phone until the battery is fully charged. 2. Once fully charged, use the phone like you normally do until the phone shuts itself down because there is no power. 3. Charge the battery again without using the phone until fully charged. 4. Then you can use the phone and charge it anytime you want. You can repeat these steps as much as you want, the more you do it, the more life you'll get from the battery. -- As far as the charger, if you have to adjust it to get it to charge, it could be the cord or the prong on the inside. I'd goto a store and test another charger, if it's available. You can probably get cheap batteries/charges on EBay or anywhere on the internet. Let me know if I was helpful for your questions. John
