I looked at you model laptop at Toshibas' website and, apparently it has to do with the bios and an update. It says it can happen anytime and if you catch it before this happens, you can do the update and aviod the problem but, if you all ready have the problem, which you do, then you should take it to a "toshiba repair center". I would take their advice and get an estimate on the repair. It was covered under warranty until December of 2010. Check with Toshiba and maybe you can get them to fix it for free.
