Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

The enter key on my 9-month-old Acer netbook has stopped working. I'm running a full scan as I type this and I've upgraded to Firefox 4 with no success. Is the key just worn out or is it a software problem?

This is likely a hardware problem, and not related to any of your software.

Keyboards take a lot of abuse and can wear out or get jammed. Crumbs from food, or dust, etc can also get lodged under the key. Fortunately the keys are removable, but you must be careful when removing them from the laptop (the plastic pins that hold them are delicate).

Using a table knife, slide it under the edge of the Enter key. Twist the knife a little to lift up one end. Twist gently until you hear a click as it comes loose. Be gentle and proceed slowly. Some Enter keys have two clips, so you may need to pry up the other end of the key too. Some keys also have a thin metal bar/wire. Notice how this hooks up, because you'll need to put it back together this way.

Look for any hair, crumbs or other items in the space under the key. Also, make sure the plastic/rubber spring-pad is working properly by pushing down on it. If you push on the spring-pad with a pencil (erase end), does the enter key work (open up Notepad or Word while you test this).

If yes, try putting the key back on the way it was. Hopefully everything should work now. If not, make sure you clicked it back in all the way, and that it is seated properly.

If it still doesn't work, there may be other problems with the key, and the best bet is to have a qualified technician take look. Take your system to wherever you bought it, or Best Buy for service.

I cannot open mozilla.but mozilla already in my desktop.give me the best solution to it.

If you didn't have the problem before yesterday you may want to try Windows System Restore before you do a full frest install.

start>programs>accessories>system tools>system restore

Choose a date from before the problem existed.
Try to install a newer version of firefox.
This is a common problem with Firefox and the solution is also simple.
1. First go to Task Manager and end process “firefox.exe”.
2. Go to programs -> Mozilla Firefox -> Firefox (safe mode)
3. In the check list select for defaults and disable all add-ons.
4. Click make the changes and restart.
Scan ur pc with maleware.
The another solution is
· Go to 'Run' and open 'cmd'
· Type 'netsh' in command console then press enter
· Then type 'winsock' and press enter and then type reset
· Restart Your PC
Another way is
· Open Regedit
· Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ole
· Find the Key :
· Name: EnableDCO and set
· Data: N
· Restart Your PC
· Problem Is Solve
It is a registry error. Run a registry cleaner to fix the error. Firefox creates registry key it may be error in registry key. May be dll is missing so you can run registry cleaner to solve it.Download reginout

Hi, this can happen, normally a corrupted file from a download. Try going to Mozilla website and down loading the latest updates, if this doesn't work, uninstall firefox and reinstall again.

Not to worry. open the firefox. Click view (3 rd button on the second line at the top). Then Click on toolbars. On the pop out that opens on the side, click on the which ever tool bar you need, and you will see a tick mark appear on the left hand side. You will now have your corresponding toolbar as earlier.
