Question about Onkyo Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I have connected my laptop via a 3.5mm RCA cable to the Aux input of my Cinema receiver, however there is a terrible feed back sound in the speakers. Why is this ? perhaps it's the quality of the cable as it was only a couple of quid. Regards Ian

Mono to stereo juck try get some non aloyed cables also try turning the laptops sound down just so that you can hear it then use the amp to push the sound out you could be overdriving the sound

    Hi,
Turning the sound down on the laptop will only reduce the output through the receiver and I'm not able to push the sound up high unless the laptop sound is high. However if i turn the laptop sound to mute the feedback is still there, i will change the cable to see if this is the cause.
    Thnx Ian

Tring to connect my samsung tv to my samsung home cinema and having problems

Hi,here is my simple solution...
to listen your TV on your Stereo system thru your
samsung home cinema receiver,
** you need to connect "Audio Output " RCA jacks or "Optic cable output" of your TV
** to "AUX input " or "TV" OR "Any input" of your receiver ( except Phone ) or "Optic Cable input"
** than just switch to respective mode on
samsung home cinema RECEIVER corresponding your RCA or Optic connection..
.
There you go..Your TV sound is on the
samsung home cinema Receiver..By this means whatever you watch on the TV (TV tuner, satellite , Xbox ..etc.) ,it's sound will come thru your stereo..

Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know.
Take care and please

Hi, I have used a 3.5mm to RCA cables to connect my laptop to my cinema receiver so i can listen to music through the surround system However there is a terrible feedback sound which really is awful....

well, it could simply be your microphone interfering, i assume they're right next to eachother, unless you have a webcam with the mic built in elsewhere. try muting the microphone in sound properties.

How do I hook up my ipod to my pioneer vsx d409 ?

The best way is to use a 3,5mm stereo jack to 2 RCA cable like this:
technical114_34.jpg
You can easily find one like this at your local audio/electronics shop or buy one on line. You have to connect the RCA at any free stereo input at the back of your Pioneer (like aux or cd). Take a look at this picture:
technical114_35.jpg
After this you can use the 3.5mm stereo jack for connecting not only your ipod but every mp3 player or other device has an earphone jack. Just plug the 3.5mm jack at the earphone jack and rise the volume at the portable device up to the middle of the volume range and set your Pioneer input selector at the stereo input that you connect the 2 RCA before (aux or cd)

In case of a problem or clarification or further details needed, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.
If you are satisfied, rate my solution with the "thumbs" or (even better) add a testimonial.

Do not know how to connect my kappa 60.5cs to my pioneer cd player do they have to go through an external amp?what do i do with the power plugs on the oppisite side why are there 2 per speaker

You need to run RCA cables from the CD player to the CD or AUX input on your amp / receiver unit. If you have a standalone amp, you need some way to control the volume. Basically, if you have a volume control on the front of your amp, you're OK. If not, you should also have a preamplifier that the CD player feeds first.

From the amplifier, then, a single pair of speaker outputs feeds a single pair of inputs on your speakers. The reason for two jack sets on the speakers is for "bi-wiring" or "bi-amping", not necessary for basic stereo reproduction.

So -

CD red/white RCA out -> preamp/receiver red/white CD/AUX input. Amp speaker output (red + / black -) to one red/black input pair on the speakers. An input on the speaker is side by side...

Keep the red to red, black to black when connecting the speakers, or you will wind up with poor sound and weak bass.

I have a Vizio Flat Screen TV. I have speakers in all the rooms in my home. Can the TV be hooked up to the speakers with any success?

Hello,

yes, the TV can be hooked to the speakers, but you will be needing a receiver (amplifier).

Check your TV, if you will have any earphone input space. If you find it on the TV, then it means job is half done.

Get a 3.5mm to RCA cord, connect the 3.5mm part to your TV's earphone space (if any), then connect the RCA part (Red and White) to input (Aux/Video/CD in etc) at the back of your receiver (amplifier) or deck, select the input (Aux/Video/CD in etc) on your sound system (receiver/amplifier) and sound should come out of the speakers.

Also, you can use this same method, but this time with a different wire which is RCA to RCA.

Connect the RCA (Red and white, to "Output" or 'Out' at the back of the TV, then connect the other part to the "Input" of your sound system (receiver/amplifier).

Good luck.

Most Cable Boxes have a audio out out via RCA connections. You should be able to run a Audio Cable from them to the AUX input of you receiver and get a better quality sound.

Auxilary RCA inputs have no volume control

Your problem stems from the fact that the CDA-7892 is not equipped with an RCA aux-input jack. If you're plugged into RCA connectors at the back of the head unit, they're outputs, not inputs. The sound you hear is just feeding back through the outputs and into the head unit's amplifier. If you want to play your iPod through this head unit, you need to purchase either the auxiliary input adapter (KCA-121B) or iPod adapter (KCA-420i).
