What kind of damage? Did you drop it, or did it get wet? Will system start up at all?. The mother board for you Dell is around 200.00

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error or it could be a problem with your graphics card

Click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to display adapters + to expand you might see a yellow question mark ? or exclamation mark ! red x right click select reinstall drivers http://majorgeeks.com/SiS_UniVGA5_Graphics_Driver_For_Vista_d5611.html

Hi
Try and do the following:
Have a look at the back of your graphics card there might be a 6 pin plug it provides extra power to the graphics card which will need to be plugged in before your PC will boot. If not try and get hold of another graphics card and insert that into your PC. Switch on the PC and see if you get a display. If the PC still does not want to boot up then the pci-express slot on your motherboard might be faulty. If it boots up then your graphics card might be faulty.

Unable to boot up

Hi,

The problem is of the display side so if possible connect the pci
display card or can repaire the mother board, If not then only solution is to change the mother board.

No display when i turn on pc

so..let me see..you have 2 mainboards, two video cards.one preocessor and rammsso you have quite some possibilities.
fisrt of all I have to say that just clearing the bios is not a solution..would be better to update it,by downlaoding it from the manuufacturers site and after you made a bootable cd than under dos mode re write the bios..
however you cant see anything without a propper signal with new motherboard.
take the new mother board..
so..chech the rams.if you have more ramm dimms let only one in the board but be sure is the one near the proccesor slot and check it to be well inserted.
-put the video cards first the 8500 one,see what it happends.like an observation:if the hdd is damaged the computer runs showing you the dos mode/you are able to reach the bios
processor damaged-computer can run/blue screen with some infos/it is note  a rule that you can reach the bios
ramms distroyed or put wrong..computer starts/dos mode/able to work in bios
video card damaged -NO SIGNAL AT ALL
moather card damaged-No signal at all.
so think and pay attebtion to the details of the errors.

You can make different tipes if combinations and by elimination youll discover the faulty component.
from now I can only presume is the new mother board
good luck .its a booring work but is nothing you can do more
bye bye
