Same thing happened to me yesterday. I pulled power, let unit sit. Then, when I powered up, I IMMEDIATELY loaded a tape and HIT PLAY. Tape started to play. No more Error 90!

Error 20 has been happening to me for years. It means the tape is not loaded properly. Usually occurs THE FIRST TIME the unit is turned on. The only workaround I've found is to not hit "play" upon the first loading of the unit each day. Instead, we hit "Fast Forward" for a bit. Then play seems to engage without an Error 20 appearing. If that doesn't work, a second Power down/on always takes away the error.

Let me know if you find anything further! Would love to know.

i've just gotten around to attempting to use a mint-condition EVO 9850 after it sitting idle for 13 (yes thirteen) years ... i am getting error 20:  1) sometimes immediately upon loading the tape   2) after the tape has been running in PLAY mode for about 3 secs ... machine freezes ... hmm ... the unit sat well protected in a dust free climate controlled interior ... any ideas? ... appreciate your comments ... my goal is to use the deck as a play deck as i copy the hi-8 tapes to DVD ...

Same problem..sat for 12 years - dust free - and now error 20.
I try to power down and up but only got it to work one time.
Tried to FF and then hit play, but no go.

Sony evo 9850 error code 20

From what i've read an Error-20 on a Sony BSP deck is a tape transport problem. Someone with the same error code (on a BSP model) said the actual tape loading mechanism was bad and they had to replace the hardware inside the machine that loads and ejects the cassette.

What is an error 20 message on a Sony VO 9850?

Remove the bottom cover and flip the circuit board out of the way.
Check to see that the capstan drive belt is not loose or broken.
Also, open the top cover and check the drive belt for the cassette transport.

I have a sony evo n600c and when it starts up its says 103 charge circuit fails does and the battary does not work i know i will need another battery but what i am asking is is the 103 charge circuit fails...

This error is commonly seen in Compaq laptops. Take out the battery, start the laptop with the adapter only and see if that error message pops up again and if not then it might be your battery.Usually battery life is 3yrs. Put the battery back again and see if the message pops up again. Try the battery on a different laptop. It could be the Voltage Converter Board...see service manual for the same or call Compaq service centre.

Error 409 Memory full on Monarch 9850 printer

409 is a memory full error, so if you have reset the printer, then your memory should be "flushed". You may also have an incorrect flow control, so when you send too much data to the printer, you can get a 409.

Not knowing which your issue could be, try calling the company's support number 1-800-543-6650.
