My laptop hp dv 1222nr graphic card has failed and i want to change it. where can i buy a new one and the step by step to replace it. the laptob boot up successfully when i connect it to another screen. Please help

Yes, this would indicate a graphics chip issue if both the external and lcd screen are flickering. The issue may be as simple as cleaning the unit from inside, replacing the heat sink, or replacing the graphics card or motherboard depending on if it is integrated.

Its probably not the screen at all. It could be a bad LCD converter module. Or even a failing graphics card. I would suggest taking it in for a checkup at Best Buy or a local repair shop for further trouble shooting.

Hi Pradeep, I saw same problem with most of HP laptops (almost all series of dv-xxxx) this is the problem of nVidia graphics chipset, you have visit any service center to fix this problem, Thank you...

Try a new or different battery. Some models will not power on with an extremely low or expired battery.

I found some info on a forum, it says the 1 long and 2 short beeps is a problem with the graphics chip. You may need a replacement motherboard.

Lists standard beep codes for computers. The one long, followed by two short beeps indicates a display problem according to the site.

I have heard other people say that the same beep codes specify a RAM problem.

Have you recently installed any new RAM or a new graphics card, or made changes to either.

It seems likely to be the graphics card because of the missing info on the screen. Usually when RAM is bad there is something on the screen.

Try restarting the pc in safe mode by tapping the F8 key while re-booting the computer. If the lines are gone it is the display driver.

if you have change your screen before and it contnues then change your signal cable(vga), this is connected from board to LCD (screen).
