Hi Dan - Can't be done but the most IMMEDIATE thing that you should do is call your provider and tell them the phone was stolen. The idea that this is possible is just folklore.
They will then flag the number and it will be blocked from further use. As far as responsibility for any calls that might have been made in the meantime that varies between providers. Most important is when you call you have a friendly positive attitude and try to get the phone rep on your side. Most reps have some leeway in how they can handle the situation....BUT CALL THEM NOW!!
