SOURCE: Can not adjust the tension

Nothing is too old, that is what the internet is for. You can google it or you click this link (PFAFF Manuals) which I found for you. Just look for your model and easily download the owners manual after purchase. Don't lube any part of your machine until you have a manual which shows you where. Oil attracts lint and could cause it to operate in a difficult manner.

SOURCE: I have a tension problem

Either the bobbin and the pin it spins on need thorough cleaning or the bobbin needs replacement if, even after cleaning the problem persists. Clean it by dipping it in spirit or gasoline and then using a brush on it.

What are the correct thread tension numbers on thePfaff hobby grand quilter 1200

Usually, the standard tension for upper thread is midway between high & low numbers. However, every machine differs and may need to be tweaked. Unfortunately, finding the correct tension is generally a test and adjust method. Be sure you are using a brand new needle and good quality thread.

My Pfaff Expression 2034 sewing machine is suddenly making an almighty mangled mess at the bottom - it doesn't matter how I re-set the tensions. What can be the problem?

Be sure to use a brand new needle.

Remove the upper thread and bobbin. Reinstall the bobbin making sure it is turning the correct direction and threaded properly in the bobbin case.

RAISE the presser foot and rethread the top thread. Confirm the thread pathway is correct.

Most often, knots (thread nests) occur under the fabric because the machine is misthreaded or the thread is not seated completely in the tension disk.

Bobbin thread picks up when there is no fabric in machine,as soon as i put fabric under the foot it skips stitches or doesn't catch at all. have changed needles, re threaded and adjusted timing.

Hi,
I have run into this problem on newer light weight machines.
Remove the nose cover and look for thread wrap in the upper tension control, even a small piece of fluff can keep the discs from closing when you drop the presser foot.
Try not to disassemble the upper tension control because they can be tricky to get back together.
Check around the slack arm, thread will wrap-up at the pivot.
Good luck.

Pfaff machine -sews with thread loops forming on the underside of the fabric.

This is usualy a thread tension problem. Adjust the upper thread tension first. If tightening the upper thread tension doesn't work, then adjust the bobbin holder (lower thread tension) check with the user manual for your specific machine for the correct procedure.

I had read where someone said their lower looper tension dial had pulled apart. Sure enough, mine had too. We snapped it back together and Voila problem solved!

Tension Problem on Pfaff 2034, bobbin loops

Rule of thumb.. Loops on the bottom, problem on the top. Loops on the top, problems on the bottom.

Set your upper tension at 4, and rethread the machine from the top. Just before you thread the needle, but the presser foot down. If the thread pulls right thru easily, then the thread is not thru the tension wheel right. Because, if you can't pull the thread thru with the presser foot down, you have it threaded right.

How to stipple with Pfaff 7550

Make sure you have the presser lifter lever in the proper position. When lowering it, push to the rear and it will stop half way down. This engages the upper tension but keeps the foot from lowering down and touching the fabric.
If this doesn't help please post the exact problem, i.e. thread pulling to the bottom etc.
Good luck!
