This is very easy to do all you will need is the drivers to install your scanner with. Here is the link to get the drivers you need.

Scroll through the menu to select the scanner drivers you need. Before you install these drivers unplug the scanner from your computer. Then download and install the drivers. Turn your scanner on so it is powered up, plug the scanner back into the computer. A window will popup saying a new device or drivers are being installed. Once that completes its process reboot (restart) your computer and you now can scan from your computer.

I hope this helps you out, if it does please leave me some feedback.

I need driver for canoscan fb636u, i have windows 7 64 bits

This scanner does not have a driver that is supported in windows 7. You could try to install windows XP mode in windows 7, and install it from there, drivers for windows xp is available from canons homepage.

I have many years repairing Canon scanners maybe I can help you out.

I just researched your question and the reason your having a problem installing your scanner on a Windows 7 machine is there are no drivers for Windows 7 currently available. But I do have a suggestion that may work for you. Try installing the Vista drivers for it because they are close to Window 7 drivers. When your installing them it may tell you that these drivers are not digitally signed for your system do you still want to install them? Just say yes and let the install proceed. Here is the link to get the drivers just click the menu on the left and you will get a drop down then select the drivers for Vista:

Either click the link above to take you there or copy and paste it into your web browser to take you there.

Now Im going to give you some special instructions to help you get through this install.

First disconnect the cable from your scanner to your computer

Second download the drivers and install them on your computer

Third when the install completes turn your scanner on so its powered up. Then plug it back into your computer.

Fourth when you plug in the scanner to your computer a window may pop up saying a new device or drivers are being installed. Let it go through its process. Then reboot (restart) your computer.

OK you should be able to scan now if not then I would email Canon and ask if they have any drivers avaliable or even beta drivers for your scanner but I think the Vista drivers should work for you.

You might want to print this out and save it for future reference.

I hope this helps you out and if it does please leave me some positive feedback.

I run windows 7, but I cannot get the driver for my scanner - Canoscan D646u ex (yes, i know, its a dinosaur -- but its not broken)

Unfortunately , the production of drivers stops at W XP .
If you have the W XP install disc , you can install a virtual version of W XP on your machine from
If you still have the install disc , you can also partition your primary and install W XP on the new partition from Easy and safe , no specific knowledge required .

Windows 7 does not detect CanoScan 3200F using its drivers.

Downloading Canoscan Toolbox is required in addition to the driver.
