    Hi

I have the same problem with SONY VLP FX50 multimedia projector.

I think one of the filters (RED) is "burned out" someone suggested that a similar lens filter for photografes are OK to use but never tried it myself.

You can't. either replace the entire optical engine or find another broken projector on ebay.

Hi Wayne,

There could be numerous causes including issues with the connectors, DLP chip, or polarizing plates. You will need a professional to disassemble and take a look. Feel free to send me a message at david@digitronelectronics.com and I can help.

I hav e a vivitek 1080hd projector and it turns on for a couple of seconds then shuts off. it blinks a code of 62. 6 blue blinks of the power button then 2 red blinks of the ready button

That code indicates a fan-2 error. These projectors generate a lot of heat and depend on air circulation to keep everything cool. Make sure nothing is blocking the vents on the projector. Check the fan for lint and dust. Make sure fan spins freely and is operating correctly. Keep projector away from any other heat sources. Hope this helps.

I,ve got a red spot in the screen i replaced the bulp but stil have the problem

it is most likely a burned polarizing filter. There is a polarizing filter on the blue light channel and another on the red channel. When black, or other dark colours are displayed, the red polarizing filter is supposed to block ALL of the red light being projecter. If the filter is burned, some light slips through and creates a red tinge on the projected image. If the red tinge only appears on dark images, but is absent when the images is completely white, a damaged filter is likely the problem.

Seems its hard to buy them. Best bet is probably buying a broken projector from ebay and stealing the filters out of it.

Color shift blue tint

This could also be a setting. If you are using component video as a connection, make sure that the unit is set for RGB if coming from a laptop or other computer system. If the projector is set to YPrPb, the picture will look purple or bluish as you describe. Change the setting to RGB and all should be well.

Blue Haze on the left and various other places on screen

it's the polarizing filter on one of the lcds. they tend to fry due to excessive heat. clean the dust out of the projector so it can cool down properly. but you will need to replace that filter. it is fairly easy, but remember which plugs go where. however, many companies won't sell parts for or replace components of the optical engine or the prism assembly. if they don't, it's going to cost a bit. check the panasonic website for the closest authorized service center.

This is probably the polarizing filter. It will need to be replaced. It should not cost very much to fix.
