This is a problem. This has happened to my laptop couple of time. But what I do is, leave it for a while then try again and that fixes the problem.
What cause this this type of problem most times is voltage in the power adapter (charger). Also, a battery problem can cause this.
Shut down the laptop, remove the battery, wait for 30 seconds, fix the battery back into the laptop and try to charge it in another outlet. If it does the same, leave it for about 30mins, by then, the power in the adapter (charger) must have settled, then try again.
If none of the simple fix above doesn't solve the problem, please let me know so that I can direct you further on what next to do.....
