Try holding down the f8 key when booting up.This should bring you to a list.Choose start in safe mode.
Once done,shut down and restart pc.If this does not help Try f8 key again while booting up and choose restore to last known good configuration.

Let me run through what is going on and how you can fix it:
It is the laser that needs readjusting in order to fix this problem. The good news is that the drive will still work as long as you readjust the laser in most cases - so you don't need to replace the drive!
You can send it in for Repair and they will fix it for you - although this will cost about $150 in a repair bill and you can expect to wait for about 4 weeks to get your console back.
It is possible to fix the PS3 games reading error from home because as mentioned above all you are doing is readjusting the laser.
