I am afraid that you have to take it in for service, bummer. It takes special tools and know how to get it back. If, it is under warranty, try going to an authorized dealer and see if they will do it, sometimes you can luck out.

How do I stop top thread from breaking

Breaking thread usually results from mis-threading or tension too tight. Install a brand new needle. Try a different brand of thread (AVOID old or bargain bin threads!). Set the tension at the midway point between high & low number.

Does it sew fine for a couple of inches and then pop? Watch the thread, does it get tight between the spool and needle before it breaks? If so, the thread is hanging up somewhere--is there a nick or slot on the thread spool itself that is catching the thread?

Remove the thread completely and re-thread from the beginning. When threading, ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot so the thread will seat in the tension disk. Verify that the thread path is correct and that nothing has been threaded out or order or missed. Check that the thread is not snagging on a burr or nick.

Confirm that the correct needle is being used for the thread and fabric, ie the thread is too thick for the needle's eye. Usually, the symptom is shredded or frayed thread at the needle eye.
All About Needles

There could also be a burr snagging the thread at the needle plate or around the bobbin area. Wrap a finger with fine fabric (old hosier, chiffon, silk) and run your finger around the needle plate and bobbin area. If it snags, you know where to look. If it's a small burr, it can be smoothed (gently!) with a fine emery board or sand paper. If it is a large burr, it should be taken to a technician or a replacement part installed.

Top thrd snags on bobin aftr 14or15 stitches. Chnged thread, needle and bbin. Tug'd on thrd while threading, not tension.Just srvced but set a month before I sewed on it.Singer 600 Touch n Sew Slant.

Try a brand new needle. If it is still malfunctioning, most like it is out of time. You can search the internet for sewing machine timing or take it back for service.

In my Janome Memory Craft 3000 my material got pulled into the area where my bobin thread comes from. I pulled it out. Now my needle is dragging but not breaking on the white piece underneath where you...

I would suggest replacing the needle, make sure the needle is correct for the fabric and thread being sewed.
sometimes when the fabric gets caught in the feed dog area, there are different reasons, I'll list some below
fabric is too thin--needs stabilizer
top thread has some off the thread take up lever
bobbin is turned the wrong way in the bobbin case
needle is damaged--replace needle with correct size for fabric being sewed--and insert the needle correctly into the needle holder.
if these suggestions don't help, I also suggest having the machine checked to see if there is some other problem like timing.

Bobin ran out and when I replaced it the thread from the needle keeps getting in a wad around the bobin holder

Sounds like there are spare thread pieces stuck in the bobbin casing/ hook area. Disassemble (it is usually self-explainitory on most machines), clean it out, then re-thread your machine, being mindful of the tension settings. Does this fix it?

My problem is with the bobin. The machine worked well two days ago. Now when I try to sew , the bobin thread is becoming caught in the lower area and produces tension that stops the machine after about two...

With out looking at the machine it is hard to determine the exact problem, but make sure your bobbin thread is placed in the bobbine case corretly, and pulled through the little tension area on the bobbin case.

Next make sure the upper thread is in the tension discs, if not this can also cause you a problem, plus if possible used a little canned air (with the pressure foot up, machine unplugged and thread removed) blow out the tension area.

Good luck.

Is there any other thing I can do to stop the thread from the upper looper from breaking after about 30cms of sewing. there is no sign of it being about to break. I have changed thread, needles and...

it could be due to one or more of the following

  • Threading is not correct.
check that bobin is not snagging thread,
remove bobin and remove any dust and fluff from bobin area
  • Needle is wrong size.
  • Needle has been inserted wrong.
  • Needle and thread does not match.
  • Starting to stitch too fast.
  • Thread take-up lever has not been threaded.
  • Correctly thread machine.
  • Replace needle with correct size.
  • Properly insert needle.
  • Start machine at a medium speed.
  • Check threading order.

I hope this was helpful

Thread keeps breaking while sewing

If you have a manual look for checking the tension. Or it may be it is threaded wrong.

Thread is jamming and breaking and leaving knots on the back

Check the needle plate gap where the thread comes up from the Spool and the needle goes down.
This gets rough and damaged. Gently file out and buff.

Also check the hook assembly where the bobbin case goes, this also gets rough and will snag the thread. Rub up with FINE emery paper especially round the outside edge.

Needle jaming and thread gathering under bobin case

when this happens to me (the needle breaking) I make it a thing to do and that is to use a qtip with a bit of oil and clean the bobbin holder and then use canned air and blow out the lint from area and this may help you. You may have a tiny tiny piece of needle left in the holder and this will play havoc with any kind of sewing machine. I have suffered through it many times before I made this a practice when needle breaks
