Question about Epson Stylus CX3200 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I put in a new ink cartridge, and now the error light came on and the unit will not work. this unit was bought in 2003. I changed ink cartridge as usual and this is the first time this has happened. Is the printer getting old?

I did what you suggested but that did not cure the problem. What do I do next? Buy a new pringer? Nothing seems to cure the problem. Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Take the cart out and put it back in there might be some loose connection.
The error light flashing is caused by that bad or damaged cartridge. You can always try cleaning the electrical contacts on the cartridge and inside the ink
cartridge holder assembly, with a damp Q-Tip. Then dry the contacts with a new dry Q-Tip and retry the cartridge. If that does not help, and you still have
your old cartridge, try reinstalling it, even if its empty and see if that printer time out problem goes away.If it goes away replace the cartridge.

Hope this helps.

Since it is 8 years old, repairing it will cost you around $200-300. You need to replace fuser assembly. So I would suggest you to go with new one.

I changed my ink to new ink ,and the lights are flashing what could be the matter ,i have a error message E5 ,can you give some tips as i have lost my manuel . Amanda

This could indicate that one or both cartridges aren't completely installed or the tape is still over the nozzles. With the printer on, lift the scanner unit and wait for the cartridges to move to the replacement location. Remove the cartridges one at a time, remove the protective tape (if present) and reseat them. Make sure that they click into place. Then close the scanner unit.

You can try installing new Canon cartridges (to check if the error is from bad cartridges). Make sure that you have the cartridges in the correct slot and are using the correct cartridges for the printer (PG40, PG50, CL41, CL51).

The printer may require service if the cartridges are OK.

The manual for the printer is available here: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp150?selectedName=BrochuresAndManuals .

I hope this helps.

Hi-

when you go ro check ink levels- is it saying that there is a specific cartridge that you need to change? red light indicates no ink and all of the cartridges should have ink in it. try uninstalling cartridges and reinstall it and make sure you hear a click when you press it down. if that doesnt work, call epson 562-276-1300 for a complaint and replacement of ink. best i got!

thanks for using fixya!

Ink cartridge problem

Complete the following instructions:
  1. Power off your All-in-One.
  2. Use both hands to lift up the scanner unit until the scanner support holds it open.
  3. Turn the All-in-One on. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.
  4. Remove the color print cartridge.
  5. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  6. If the error message reappears, replace the black print cartridge with a new print cartridge.
If it does not repeat steps 1-3 and then go to step 7.
  7. Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black print cartridge.
  8. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  9. If the error message occurs again, replace the color cartridge.
  10. If an error message reappears, repeat steps 1-3 and reinstall both print cartridges.
  11. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  12. If you receive the error message again, replace both cartridges.

New ink cartridge for Kodak Easy Share 5300 will not work

The version of firmware you originally had on the printer when you changed the ink cartridge was bad. There is a known issue that when you put in a new ink cartridge when the printer is in the error state "COLOR INK EMPTY. REPLACE COLOR INK CARTRIDGE" the unit writes that value to the new ink cartridge so you will continue to have that error.

So to fix your problem Open the access door and Remove the ink cartridges. Then download and install the new Firmware. Heres the link.

Kodak AiO 5300 Firmware

Then sadly you have to go get another new ink tank and install it.

If you can get through to kodak you should request reimbursement of some sort like a free set of ink tanks.

I hope this helps

Canon MP530 U052 Error

The dreaded U052 error means that the 'chip' fitted to the Cartridge is not responding .. Canon (like all printer mfgs) makes all it's profit from selling Ink .. so they fit these chips to try to prevent you refilling or using a 'compatible' replacement cartridge

You have to move the chip from the Canon cartridge to the 'compatible' and (it seems) the chips are particularly sensitive to static / damage .. many people end up blowing the chips during the swap over .. or even when fitting the original genuine cartridges to a brand new unit for the first time ...

If the unit is brand new, take it back and demand a replacement ... if you have just swapped over the chip onto a compatible cartridge, you can try buying a genuine Canon cartridge (which will have a new chip) = hopefully that will do the trick

NB. I have seen some suggestions that canon's have a 'Service Mode' that allows you to disable the cartridge chip checking and allow you to print no matter what .. however I've never found any details ... perhaps some-one else has the details ??

Ink cartridge error

Check the date on your ink cartridge.  I bet it has expired.  If you put in a "new"cartridge but it is even an HP one with an older date, it may not work.
I had my printer stop in the middle of a print job.  It was printing fine and suddenly would not print.  So I refilled the cartridge with an ink kit I had on hand and reinserted it--no go!  Then I opened a remanufactured cartridge I had bought some time ago and inserted it.  No go, despite the fact I could see ink coming from the jets.  I finally gave up and bought a new HP ink cartridge, and it worked just fine.  But it bugged me why the new one would work and the other two that seemed just fine would not.

Later I learned that HP has a chip that reads the expiration date on the cartridges and that is what keeps those old ones from printing.  I found one trick of setting my date on my computer back to a year earlier than the exp date on the cartridge.  I saw the date on the remanufactured one I had tried earlier was 2005, so I set my computer date to today's date but year 2004.  After forcing me to do print alignments several times and take the remanufactured cartridge out and put it back, I got it to print just fine.  And that 2005 cartridge that would not work earlier is what I am printing with right now.
