Question about Dryers

1 Answer

There is no heat coming from my dryer, just cold air! I have cleaned the filter, emptied the water and generally checked everything. Is there anything else I could try? Thanks Sue

Hotpoint condensing dryer model TCFS93BGP. cleanfilter/empty water light keeps coming on after 3/4 minutes

Hi, my dryer has 3 things to check out of which one is more hidden:
- empty the water reservoir
- clean filter in the door
- clean condensor which is hidden below the bottom panel which has to be released through a button behind the door

The last one is less obvious and more difficult to find/reach. Might need to consult the manual.

Did you check all 3?

Hope this helps

Doesn't dry

Drying consists of removing moisture through heat and airflow. Check to make sure that your venting tube is not kinked somewhere and therefore not allowing the air to flow freely from the dryer.

Dryer does maintain heat

I need a little help here. Your post.... "Dryer does maintain heat"

With the comment: "igniter glows and flame goes on after rest"

So far everything your desribed is most likely normal operation.

Are you saying that the "Dryer does NOT maintain heat properly?" AND that the flame cycles on and off way too often?

I will send this as a solution however.... if you need more help just reply to this post.

-- If you disconnect the dryer vent ducting and it works normally the ducting is clogged up.

--If it still operates the same with the vent disconnected then the dryer air passages are clogged up with lint. Use a crevice tool and something like a folded over metal coat hanger to clean up the air passages

--This can include the lint filter itself if you use dryer sheets. The filter will appear clean but will not allow airflow due to the dryer fabric sheet particulate build up on the filter. Wash it with vinegar and water then soap and water. Make sure to clean the air passages around the lint filter.

--If after all of the above the dryer is still doing the same thing check the airflow out of the back of the dryer. It should gently push a relaxed hand and wrist away from the vent outlet hole. If it does not and your sure all of the air passages are clean then there is a good possibility that the blower wheel has failed and is spinning on the motor shaft vs being driven at full speed.

Also if you respond and need more help please include all of your model number or confirm that MDE7400AY is the correct model number.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have cleaned out the vents to my dryer. And it still will not dry in one cycle. It takes 3 to 4 cycles before it will dry. It tumbles the air is strong and hot in the back

Check if there is heath. If air is completely cold, check the heating element (in case of electric dryer). Heating element is tested removing it from appliance and reading Ohms with a multimeter to ensure it has continuity.

If there is heat, or if air is cold and element is good, test and replace the thermostats, there should be two or three of them placed in heating group and air ducts.

First ensure you have checked filter, vents and duct and removed lint.

If you want to contact an authorized technician call the number listed on the owners manual or on manufacturer website.

My tumble drier dont heat up. It works but its

there will be a red overheat switch on the rear on most models, simply pull the machine out and press reset, the most cpmmon cause is running when empty or a build up of lint. if the doesnt work then it will be an open circuit element.

Hotpoint tdc62p changed thermostats as blowing out cold air,

Make sure that all filters are properly cleaned, and that the air inlet and outlet vents are clear. Make sure water container is empty.
The best way to clean the filter at the bottom is to run cold water through it, this will clear out all the lint.. Make sure you have the correct stats ( there are many for the hotpoint range) and that you have them in the correct position on the heater back plate.
Plz rate this solution.

Not heating up

I would check the thermo fuse in the back of dryer.. its on the burner towards the top.. use omh meter and check if its good. If you dont have a meter, if very careful and just hook wires togeter and tape so nothing touches and will not short out by touching anything, bypass switch JUST to see if switch is bad! Replace it if bad
