NEC LCD1525x + Matrox G400 + XFree 4.0

By kcw573 - usenet poster

Hi!

I have a Matrox G400 with digital output (G400 Flat Panel Add-On)
and a NEC MultiSync LCD 1525x. I want to use them with XFree 4.0.

Is anybody out there who already use this combination with success?

It would be very nice if somebody could give me a hint, or even
better a ready to use solution ;-)

Thanks,

Lars

I haven't had time to play with it yet (I have a ViewSonic VP181 that has both
analog and digital inputs), but Matrox has released a binary mga driver that
you replace the standard X11 one with.  The binary driver does support the
digital flat planel (and the TV out option as well).

Hi!

I just managed it to get it working even in DualHead-Mode. I noticed that the
syntax of my XF86Config was  wrong. But there is still one problem.

When I use

Section "ServerLayout"
  Identifier    "Layout"
  InputDevice   "Keyboard0"     "CoreKeyboard"
  InputDevice   "Mouse1"        "CorePointer"
  Option        "Xinerama"      "on"
  Screen        "Screen0"
  Screen        "Screen1"
EndSection

in order to use "Clone Mode", i.e. same desktop on both monitors,
then I only have a Mouse Pointer on Screen0. Can anybody explain
how to get a Mouse Pointer on both screens?

The following works without problems. I can move windows from one
screen to another. The mouse is also working and visible on both
screens.

Section "ServerLayout"
  Identifier    "Layout"
  InputDevice   "Keyboard0"     "CoreKeyboard"
  InputDevice   "Mouse1"        "CorePointer"
  Option        "Xinerama"      "on"
  Screen        "Screen0" LeftOf "Screen1"
  Screen        "Screen1" RightOf "Screen0"
EndSection

Thanks,

Lars

Hello Michael!

I have already downloaded the driver from the Matrox site and put in the
right place. Then I modified my XF86Config according to the example in
the readme.txt. I was sure that adding

Option "DigitalScreen" "yes"

will do the trick. When I start X the display becomes dark and after while
a window pops up on the screen, claiming that there is no signal.

I am looking forward to hear from you.

Bye,

Lars
