You have a notebook computer, correct? Does the sound work with its built-in speakers? Have you tried using your external speakers with another computer? Thanks ~Jim :-)

Good day

Better check the speaker first for loose wires near the plug, then if its ok the second thing you need to check is you computer and by using a tester check if the ports for speaker is grounded or not. If it is indeed grounded better provide or buy another sound card.

This information comes from the online reference book: Using the Sound Menu

Use the remote to open the TV menu. Select the Sound menu, and the "speakers" decision. From the two choices, "TV Speakers" tells the tv to use its built-in speakers. "Audio System" tells the TV to use an external audio system, and disables the internal speakers. Select "Audio System," and check to see if it works. If it still hasn't recognized that there is an external audio system plugged in, you may need to clean the stereo mini jack (3mm audio jack) with a small wooden toothpick or similar small diameter non-conducting device.

How to connect external speakers

Hello....I took a close look at your tv and. it doesn't seem to have an output for external speakers BUT...it does have line level outputs so it easily connected to amplified speaker systems or home theatre systems..If you want to expand your system...I would suggest a 5.1 channel surround sound system.....They are priced quite reasonably and will maximize your tv experience.....I hope this was helpful....PEACE...

This t.v. doesn't have an audio output. How can I connect external/ sound speakers to it?

Hello!

you can use the Digital Coaxial port on the back of the tv.

use a mono RCA and connect it to a digital receiver eg:surround to get external sound.

(this only works with receivers with a digital input and will not give any sound
if connected do a analog input)

You don't say if all speakers work with the setup procedure. THAT is step 1. Then try FM as it doesn't require any cabling. Then move on to more complex sources like external analog, then digital (and make sure to assign the ports).

Input 1 is an INPUT so you can't connect external speakers there and get sound from the television, which is what you are attempting.

Your two choices are the 3.5mm minijack hole that says AUDIO OUT terminal, which is under the Ethernet Terminal and the DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT terminal, which is under Input 7. If your external speaker system does not have a 3.5 mm minijack input to accept the 3.5 mm minijack cable then this isn't going to work. There are cables where one end is a 3.5 mm minijack and the other end is an RCA so you can try that and it MIGHT work. Other than that the Sharp televisions are known for not carrying sound over the fiber optic cables consistently so even if you bought a fiber optic cable and connected it between the digital audio output and a speaker system or sound bar there is no 100% guarantee it'll work. It is worth a try anyways.

My speakers don't work, I can plug in head phones or external speakers and they do work. it started after my son repeatedly pluged and unpluged the external speakers

There is a microswitch in the speaker jack of the system. It disables the on-board speakers when external speakers are connected. If sounds like that switch is stuck and the on-board speakers are staying disabled when the jack is removed.
