Topping up is illegal, system has to be evacuated, leak tested then recharged

no cool air from vent or connect a manifold gauge set to machine and read suction pressure should be at 400KPA on R22 gas or 700KPA on R410A gas.

Is it better to by air conditioners with R - 410 GAS OR R - 22 GAS

R410 units are cheaper now but not as effecient as R22, also R22 is much more expensive and most likely you would have to use R22 a to recharge unit if it as allowed where you live .

I have a Mitsubishi MS-XV07UV air con. unit - Have asked a local company for a price to check gas levels and re gas if required - as it uses R22 refrigerant he says it cannot be done is this correct ?

No. The pressure can be checked, regardless of the refrigerant type. But, if it needed to be recharged, the existing R22 Freon Gas would have to be evacuated and properly disposed of and the new, approved type R134a. would have to be installed.

Try contacting another service company and see if you get the same answer as the first.

Hoi... We have a Condura split aircon of 1.5 hp. 12.000 Kj/hr -R22 The in- and outset unit needs cleaning and has to be disconnected from each other. Here's my question: After connecting again and...

Hi Frans! I'm Roger. I have never had to disconnect the Evaporator from the Condenser to clean them but here is your answer. Use the access valves on the liquid side of the condenser. After evacuating, let the vacuum pull liquid R22 into the liquid line access valve to about 80 gauge pounds and close your refrigerant port on the manifold. Start the unit and add GAS to the suction port to bring your pressure up. If you have a scroll type compressor you can add liquid to the suction port but add gas just to be safe. Exactly how much you add depends on the efficiency of the compressor and how cold you want the discharge air to be. Normally we shoot for 34 to 40 degree evaporator with 18 to 25 degree temperature drop across the coil. R22 at 34 degrees is 60.2 PSI (Pounds per square inch) on your compound gauge. That's normally blue and on the left side of the manifold. The gauge that's hooked to the suction line. 40 degrees is 68.6 PSI. The amount it will take depends on the size of the condenser and length of your line set. Watch the amp draw on the compressor while charging. The name tag will have an RLA or FLA number that is the normal operating amperage of the unit. Add gas on till the suction line is cold at the compressor, then wait 5 or 10 minutes for the system to stabilize. Adjust you pressure again and you should be done. Let me know if you need anything else and if so, be as specific as possible. Roger

My roof top a/c cools , but have 58-60 deg at regester , out side temp is 78-80 , temp at condensor is 105-110 , temp slector on coldest, fan on hi. how do install r22 in suction side , with no fitting ....

If there is no fitting then you can get a line tap valve that clamps on the refrigerant line so that you can connect guages. However, to buy R22 you have to have an EPA CFC certification card. This ensures you have training on the proper handling of refrigerants which can damage the O-zone. I know this isn't much help but that is the way it is. I far as I know the only thing you can get without the card is R134a which won't do you any good.

Can i fill my old r22 air con unit with new r407

no the pressures are not the same between r-22 and 407 Metering device will need to be changed along with compressor. The operating pressures are too far apart for the system tro handle.

Air conditioner not working in 2007 dodge geand caravan sxt

Hi, the problem your having could be something simple like needs the air con gas topping up this needs to be done at a garage.
If the gas level is ok then the aircon belt needs checking making sure it has not come off.
If both of these are ok then the problem could lie with the aircon pump itself this can be replaced but at a cost.
So get the gas checked and the belt the drive the air con pully.
Hope this is some help to you let me know if you need further assistance

Can you tell me what type of refrigerant is in my a/c it is a 15 k btu dometic brisk air roof top unit and is about 4-5 years old.I can't find it on the unit also how much will it hold and if its not 134 a...

USUALLY its R22. DO NOT USE ANY REFRIGERANT TIL YOU KNOW IT NEEDS IT THOUGH. The plate is usually inside the top cover and you can read it after removing the cover. If its a 110or 220 AC unit Im almost sure its R22. And the weight listed will be the most you should try to put in it. BUT before you do that you have to put on a piercing valve. And the pressures are higher for R22 than R134A. It will ofcourse depend on the outdoor and indoor temps as to what pressures youll be running as well as fan speed. Freezing is 57-58psig on R22 so the pressure after ruinnign 10 to 15 minutes has to be greater than 57 or 58 PSIG. It is normal for some units to run for a while at a lower pressure when 1st started though so dont jump the gun.
