Question about ASUS Computers & Internet

2 Answers

My ASUS Eee PC 1005P won't turn on. This had been working up until 4 days ago when I left Australia to Bali. When I pressed the power button the power light would come on but there would be no fan sound/screen message. I removed the charger and battery and pressed the power button for around 30 seconds, before putting the battery back in and replugging the charger. When I do this sometimes the power light comes on and sometimes it doesn't. Any suggestions?

Try turning it on with the battery without the charger. Then try turning it on with the charger without the battery. If it still doesn't turn on either way, it's already a problem with the laptop's motherboard. If your laptop is still in warranty, you should have it serviced. Otherwise you need to bring it to a repair technician.

Hi,

You did the basic troubleshooting step, which is correct. I would suspect this is a problem with your computer power supply or motherboard. But most of the time, it's always the power supply. However, before concluding that, you can isolate the issue by doing the things below.

*Remove all the USB devices connected to your laptop, turn on the laptop and see if it will turn on.
*Open your laptop and remove the hard drive, turn on the laptop and see if it will successfully turn on
*Remove the memory, turn on the laptop and see if it will turn on
*Remove the CPU, turn on the laptop and see if it will turn on
*If all else fail, you should replace the power supply
*After replacing the power supply and still having problem, you should replace the motherboard as well

How do i reset my asus transformer tablet tf101 i have a blank screen will not turn on

Perform a soft or hard reset on your Asus Eee Pad Transformer Android tablet if it is not functioning correctly. Here's how.

Soft Reset

You would want to soft reset the device in the event that it has become frozen or unresponsive. To do so, press and hold the Power button on the top-left side of the device for about 10 seconds until the device powers off.

Hard Reset

A hard reset (also known as a factory reset) will clear all data and settings from the memory of the device and set it back to factory default settings. You can perform hard reset on the Asus Eee Pad using the Android OS menus or the hardware buttons.
Method 1 1. Power the Eee Pad off.
2. Press and hold the Volume Down button on the left side of the device, then press and hold the Power button.
3. Continue to hold both buttons until a bootloader screen appears.
4. Wait for the prompt that says to "Press <VOL_UP>" then press the Volume Up button to start the process.
The Asus Eee Pad will complete the hard reset process and reboot into a factory default state.
Method 2 1. Open the Settings app.
2. Select Privacy.
3. Choose Factory data reset.
4. Select Erase tablet.
5. Select Erase everything.

EEE PC 1005P won't charge, can it be a motherboard problem?

honestly you've done everything correctly that i could think of. one last thing you could try to root out a problem with the os. is boot the computer from hirens boot disk and load the portable Windows. see if the battery is detected in hirens. then youll know if its a Windows problem or not.

personally i feel the board is the issue but it doesn't hurt to check the complete os.

Asus Eee 1005HA hangs on boot

This works for my Asus Eee PC
1. Shut down and remove the battery.
2. Press the power button 10 times, next 1 minute pressing down.
3. Remove the memory and at the motherboard you'll see a clrrst (clear reset cmos..)
4. Short these 2 tiny pads by placing a tiny screw driver for 5 seconds, plug the power adapter and turn-on the switch, next wait at least for 3 seconds. Remove the power adapter.
5. Place back the battery and turn-on. You'll see the same screen (Logo of Asus) then patiently wait for at least 10 minutes or more. That's it.Good luck.
