Question about RCA Televison & Video

1 Answer

Hi. I own the BRC3109 Portable Blu-Ray Player. I have tried downloading and updating the firmware using a USB jumpdrive like they said to on the RCA website. Comment: *I tried updating my FIRMWARE using a USB jumpdrive as requested. I followed ALL the instructions that were found online. However, when I got the software on my jumpdrive, it said one time that it was CORRUPT. I tried downloading it again, and instead of getting a clear white box for the "index.img." like advertised, I got a box with six images in it. I tried opening it, and it said that Windows could not open the file. Also, the same happened for the ULA-SWUPGD folder; when I clicked on it, I got the same image. I also decided to try anyway, and so both files WERE ON MY JUMPDRIVE. When I tried to upgrade the firmware, my Blu-Ray player said that there was nothing ON the jumpdrive. PLEASE HELP!!!!! I want to be able to always watch Blu-Rays on it, and for my Blu-Rays to perform to the best of their ability. This is the SECOND time I have e-mailed as well!!

Sounds like you could be having an issue with the flash drive that you are trying to use, maybe try a different flash drive.

I could not get the CD or flash drive to work for BRC3109 updates. I didn't realize I the device takes updates through the Ethernet port, so I did that today, just plugged in my LAN cable, my LAN connects to the Internet, and it immediately found the update. The regular instructions don't mention the LAN port, but I found these on the web: http://www.1800customersupport.com/Produ...

You can download the update file from the Product Software Updates document page on our website and save it onto a USB memory stick, then insert the USB memory stick into the Blu-ray player’s USB port and follow the onscreen prompts. You can also use the ethernet jack if you have a home network that has access to the internet, simply plug the network cable into the port on the side of the Blu-ray player and then go into the SET UP menu to select the GENERAL options tab and select SOFTWARE UPDATE from the LAN.

Special features small

Apparently it's an issue when the special features are not HD. I saw on one of my blu-ray discs (don't remember which) and today on my 'Dr. No' blu-ray.
This is apparently fixable via a firmware update. You seem to have to download the firmware to a USB drive, then plug in the front of the blu-ray player. Trying this now. Here's where I found the solution:

Hello
Enter these sites for fudate your Maranz.

www.avforums.com/.../765663-marantz-firmware-updates-sr7002.html - United Kingdom

I'll ge you some hints also

Open the Internet browser and navigate to the Marantz.com website. Select "Products," then choose "DVD Players."

Select the DVD player you are currently using, then select "Manuals and Downloads." This lists all of the available updates for the Marantz DVD player.

Click the software update to download to your computer system

Plug the USB flash drive into a USB port on the computer, then click "Start," "(My) Computer," then double-click the removable device icon. A window loads with all of the files stored on the flash drive.

Click-and-drag the software update into the open window, then close the window, right-click the removable device icon and select "Eject."

Disconnect the flash drive from the computer once the icon disappears.

Plug the USB flash drive into the USB port on the rear of the Marantz DVD player, then power on the device. The software update will upload onto the DVD player. A prompt on the television screen appears once the update has finished.

My player has trouble playing some of the new blu ray movies. i've heard i need to update the player with a usb. any help?

The Samsung blu-ray players need constant firmware updating. It is best to plug an ethernet cable from your router into the back end of the Samsung ( or get a wireless LAN ). I have multiple units that need updating so I bought a wireless ethernet bridge. The unit will tell you when a firmware update is needed and you then "accept" it through your remote. If you don't want to do this, then you will have to do it through the USB. That means you go to the Samsung website, find your player then look for downloads. Download to USB then xfer to the Samsung. Good luck

I need to upgrade my blu ray player - won't play new blu ray discs

If you are using the BRDVD there is only one update and it is a few months old. They are adding new security features to new Bluyray discs this month and all players out there need to be updated. The unfortunate side of the BRDVD is that Insignia is refusing to update the player although Funai(the comany that has made the player for them) has released a update that would work with it with little work by insignia.

To help get this player updated it would be good to go to the forums here and post that you still use this player. We got a update the first time so it should be possible to get another.

Good luck and enjoy this little player.

Will not play blu ray discs but will play ordinary dvd's

You need the firmware update. You need to download it from here...
http://www.sharpusa.com/CustomerSupport/ProductDownloads/SoftwareDownloads.aspx
and save it to a usb flash drive that is between 1-2 gigs in storage with no other files saved on to it. insert the flash drive into your blu ray player and select " software update" from the settings menu.

hey same problem here, but I just downloaded the CD version anyways... then dropped the .RUF file onto my desktop, selected it, burnt it to a CD-R (RW will also work) and popped it into the BD-P1500, so far it seems to be running along steadily in the update process... hope this solves your problem.

Wont play blu ray dvds

Regarding this issue, the only way to resolve this issue to download a Firmware update from samsung.com Here is the link where you can download this Firmware update: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/download/supportDown.do?group=mp3audiovideo&type=mp3players&subtype=flashmemory&model_nm=BD-P1000&language=&dType=D&mType=FM&vType=L&prd_ia_cd=03020100 Download first the manual on how to update firmware for your unit then download the FIRMWARE file. basically what you need to do is to download this Firmware update to your computer then burn it on a Disc using nero after that let it play to your Blu-ray player to do an automatic firmware update for your player. Hopes this helps.
