open back up the set and look closly at all of the plug connections and cables as you might not have pulled one out all the way but may have in inadvertantly pulled on a cable of one of them and pulled one out have way or just a little. My freind it happens to the professionals all the time. Make sure you check all the plugs on the VCR as well as the tv that they are instraight and flush. How do I get sky from my set top box to work in a different room, I am trying to get my sky to work on a TV in a different room ? I have wired up TV coax cable from my sky box in sitting room and run

Hi Jim,
Here In my place in India, you can attach only one tv to the sky set top box. That too with AV cables. The program or channel changing is done by box only. The tv works as a monitor and has no role in program selection. You can attach a second tv to the box not through antenna cable but through AV cables only. That too if the box is having second set of output sockets. In that case both the TVs will receive the same programmes. To watch different programmes on the second tv you will have to go for an additional box.

I am trying to connect my NES to my 40" Dynex HD TV through the AV cables and the tv says no signal but i unhooked the HDMI cable and tried the AV cables for my xbox and the xbox worked fine. How can...

  • Well the XBox has it's own AV cable pack it uses. The AV cords you are using for the NES are a separate set that are apparently bad. So to play using the AV cords you just need to pick up a new $2usd pair or see if you have a pair laying around the house.

  • You do have a coak input on the back of your TV so if you have an old coax cord laying around the house you can use the RF bonx that cam with the NES. Hook the coax from the TV to the "OUTPUT" side of the RF box and then run the little RF cord to the NES. Then turn the TV to channel 3 or 4 and you can play it that way.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

xtreamz_69,

It sounds like you connected the coax cable to your TV. What channel is the TV set on when you have the Freeview connected? Because you are using a coax cable, the TV should be set to either channel 3 or 4 (normally channel 3). Check to make sure your TV is on one of those channels. Also verify your receiver is on. Your TV has the several other type ports (HDMI, component, composite) as alternatives to pick up your picture. If you have any other questions, please post to this site.

How do i replace the vhf/uhf connector so i can hook up the cable?

You can get a cable box that has coaxil and RCA or HDMI cables. You can run cable to box and RCA's to tv. Or use a vcr or converter box instead.

Or you can dismantle the tv, take a soldering iron and heat up the old solder joints. Then insert new connection and re-solder it in..

VCR to TV

Your FIOS box is typically a Motorola Digital Cable Tuner. In order to record from the VCR your FISO will have control of the tuner, not the vcr. If your FIOS has two video outputs on it for video (av connections), one should be plugged into you tv set and the other should be plugged into the VCR input. Your cable tuner will have to be set for the channel you wish to record ahead of time while the VCR tuner has to be set to record the line input at whatever time you wish to record. If your FISO has one video output line (av connections), your VCR has to be set to channel 3 when you record (provided that is the channel your FISO box is set for when viewing TV over the coax cable) and you will have to attach the coaxial output from the FISO into the coax input of your VCR.

The only way around this is to get a splitter and split the coax line so that the FIOS is connected to the coax as it is now and the VCR is connected to a seperate line using the coax input, however using this configuration will prevent you from recording digital channels. If you have a cable ready VCR, it will probably only recognize channels up to 150.

If you really want to get it to record digital channels without the hassles find out if Verizon has a FISO box with DVR to it or connect a Tivo to your FISO. Tivo will tune the FSIO when it records and it's very user friendly to use.

Connecting new tv to DRA-685

you can use the headphone jack just get an adaptor to change from the headphone type to RCA type. adjust the volume of the tv to 3/4 of the way to give line level to the stereo, use an aux input on the stereo. if you had a suround sound dolby digital / DTS receiver then use the digital coax out to that type of receiver, but since you have an anolog 2 channel receiver you must use the only anolog source (the headphone).
