Hi, I had this problem when I switched to a new TV. What fixed it was having then PS3 turned off, then holding the power button for about 5-10 seconds until it beeped 3 times, and finally letting go. That will reset your video settings and should clear things up.
If not, you might want to double check that the video inputs are plugged into your TV all the way. Hope that helps!

Check you do not have a disc in the CD drive or a USB drive connected.

Check the BIOS has the boot order correct, select the hard drive as the first drive to boot from.

If that does not fix it you will need the OS CD and change the boot options to boot from CD first, and try to recover the data.

Ps3 wont come on loads up but just a black screen

This is usually how they boot up with no hard drive installed. See how it starts with the hard drive removed. Try after you reseat the hard drive. Try a different hard drive. Good Luck

Playstation 3 showing a yellow light

this means hadware failure if you still have warrenty send it to sony but if your not under warrenty and want to take matters into your own hands here are a couple of tricks.

again if your under warrenty send it back cause trying to fix yourself could cause void of warrenty

Check the hard drive first,
turn off ps3,....take out the hard drive the hard drive is on the left bottom side, pop the panel off with a small flat head screw driver of knife, then take out the single screw holding it and slide the hard drive to the right with the little handle. it looks like it should pull straight out but it doesnt you have to go straight to the right with it first to get it out of the connectors then pull straight out( when pulling straight out it should be completely free and just lide out)
then boot the ps3 with no hard drive and see if it trys to boot but says no hard drive found instead of the yellow light. if this happens then its the hard drive, you may have to get a new one. any laptop sata drive will work. but before you order a new one try turning ps3 off and putting same hard drive back in this seems to fix a few.

next try the fan test,
with the power switch on the back of the ps3 in the "off" position put your finger on the eject button and hold hit there while you turn the switch on the back to the "on" possition never letting go of the eject button and see if it boots then with a loud fan noise. if it doesnt then could be a number of problems with motherboard or fan or just over heating.

The ps3 turns on and gets to the "sony entertainment" screen and stays there dosnt load up the profile screen etc how do I fix this?

It sounds like your hard drive is crashing...just like a computer does. Try to find a friend with another PS3 and try to put your hard drive in their machine. If your hard drive is bad it wont boot up on their machine either.

Hi there
hey if you boot into bios and you need to make sure that the computer will recognize the hard drive and that the jumper that is on the hard drive is set as either master or slave depending on what you want than make sure that of the parameters are right and apply it. than restart the computer and than see if the cd will now boot and you should be able to continue from here ok
best regards mike

My ps3 wont boot past the title screen!!

If you can get to it without it freezing use the System Restore function under:

System->Settings>Restore PS3

If you can't get to it because of freezing you should put your hard drive into another PS3. It will see it as a new drive and prompt you to format it. Afterwards put it back into your PS3 and it will do the same thing again.

It doesn't matter which PS3 yours or the one you put your hard drive into, they're all the same as far as the process goes.

This will fix it for sure.

Ps3 trouble

You need a new hard drive. Just take out the one you have and get the same exact one. You can get them on eBay for about $20-50 (US). Just be very careful not to mess up the screws that hold the hard drive onto the holder.
OR
If your PS3 is still in warranty then call Sony.

Ihope this helps. Good luck!!
