The signals emitted from a router and microwave are both much stronger than that of a cordless phone and its base. Depending on the model it will not attempt to connect to the phone if it is not in use or if it is sitting in the holster so there is no concern for signals in these situations. However, even if there is a signal sent there should be no concern, even for those more easily affected by such signals, because of the weakness of the waves in question.
UNIDEN is notorius for this. It could be losing connection to the base - are you moving around while on the phone? or it could be the battery is not holding a sufficient charge. You can move the base unit to see if that helps - maybe something is interfering with the signal. You can try taking the battery out of the phone and putting it back in. If that doesn't work then try swapping the phones and putting them in each others charger. If that doesn't work then try letting the battery die by leaving the phone off the charger for 24 hours and then recharging for 24 hours. Good Luck!
You need to ensure that the batteries are fully charged. On the handset while talking, the phone should show how much battery charge is left. The other thing to check is how far are you from the phone base. For example if your base is on the first floor and you are on the third floor using the handset, then you might loose the signal clarity and eventually loose the connection to the base. To ensure that you are getting enough signal on all the floor, you can purchase a range externder from the manufacturer of your phone.
At 20 ft line of sight, you should have perfect reception with most any cordless phone.
The fuzzy signal can indicate: 1. A weak signal between base and handset. 20 ft line of sight should have a good strong signal. Your handset may be defective. Or, your handset battery may be weak. Your base unit may be defective.
2. You may be experiencing RFI Interference. Is the base unit next to any other electronic devices? If it is next to a wireless router or some other wireless device, it may be overloaded by the nearby signal (even if on a different frequency)
I've got a 5 year old Panasonic 5.8 Ghz cordless phone connected to my VoIP box. I just tested it from about 25 ft away from the base unit in another room with a wall in between and my reception is perfect.
I did the same test with my Panasonic DECT 6.0 phones (1.9 GHz). The first handset is slightly fuzzy, but otherwise good signal. The 2nd handset was perfectly quiet with good strong signal. So, there is a difference between two identical handsets connected to the same base unit. This indicates to me that one handset is better tuned than the other. Nothing I can do about that but get a new 2nd extension cordless handset. Sometimes, it's just luck of the draw
Try plugging in the base station into a different phone jack somewhere in the house: if it works, the first jack is dead and will need to be replaced, otherwise try the folowing:
Try using your base station at a neighbors house, (somewhere where you know the phone line is working), if it works there then its an issue with your telephone line, however if the base station does not work there, then I would look into what is going on with the phone.
if you determine that it is your phone line, I would contact your telephone company and talk to them about sending a technician out to fix it.
Weak or Hard to Hear Audio (From the Uniden Manual) If the caller’s voice sounds weak or soft, the signal might be blocked by large metal objects or walls; you might also be too far from the base, or the handset’s battery may be weak.
Try adjusting the volume of the earpiece (see page 36) or the audio tone
Try moving around while you’re on a call or moving closer to the base to see if the sound gets louder.
make sure that u are talking in the range of the base of the phone..if it goes out of range, the voice may be unclear..u can use the BOOST technique in the phone which will strengthen the signal even it is weak..
1. Disconnect Battery from handset(s)
2. Disconnect Phone Cord from wall jack
3. Disconnect Phone cord from base unit
4. Disconnect AC adapter from wall outlet
5. Allow to sit for 30 min
6. Reconnect Phone Cord to base
7. Reconnect Phone cord to wall jack
8. Reconnect AC Adapter to wall outlet
9. Reconnect Battery to hanset until you click or feel the plug snap into place
10. Re-Register Handset by placing on main base in most instances.
here's a little trick you can try to find your phone.take a radio and put it up to the mouth piece of one of your other phones and turn it up loud. but not too loud. this phone should be on talk mode.walk thru each room of your house when it's quiet, and listen for the radio. if the phone is off the hook, you should hear the radio enough to find the phone.
let me know if it works.
