Check your fuel filter if you have one.
If the mower/weedeater is over a year old, then I recommend that you buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
Sounds like you will need to clean the carburetor or replace your carburetor internal rubber parts like the diaphgram and O rings.
Be sure to use compressed air to blow out all the fuel and air passages.
Be careful when blowing out the passages, because there are sometimes small rubber type seats in the bottom of some of the passages.
Sometimes you can get by with priming the carburetor or using starting fluid and letting it run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets, but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
Keep in mind that the float for the carburetor must be level when you go to reassemble the carburetor or follow the instrucitons you get with the carburetor kit.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, you will first need to lightly seat the jet screws.
But before you lightly seat the jet screws count the number of turns it takes to seat the jet screws from their original position.
Be sure to mark the turns down on a piece of paper.
That way when you put the jets back in, you know to lightly seat them first and then turn them back out to their orginal position before you started.

How do i reduce the idling for my nissan presage 2003 model?

If it's a KA24DE (2.4) engine, under the throttle body is a small lock nut with an Alan screw in it. Break the nut loose then adjust the alan screw out with an alan wrench.

Tip

Trimmer will only run for a few secs then dies out

First, use the same oil and mix it the same from batch to batch, once you have made a batch (gallon or what ever, never add gas or oil to make more, use up the batch to the last drop, then make a new gallon). Be sure the air filter is clean, some are weted with oil to catch more dirt and provide a bit of extra suction, clean and spray it with a spray cookingoil or soak it in oil fuel mix. Next: Look for 3 adjustment screws on the carb. should be three total. 1 screw is for idle adjustment. the other 2 should be close to each other, one is low speed fuel/air mix and the other is high fuel/air mix. Adjust the low fuel/air mix screw until it will idle un-added with the throttle then adjust the idle on the throttle to get a good idle speed. Next adjust the High fuel/air mix until it gets the RPM's you want it to have. It should go from idle to high speed with out hesitation or cough. It should also run with power to cut any weeds or limbs with out bogging out.

Chokes and Dies when cutting

Adjust the choke or carburetor. In case your chainsaw stalls when the engine is idling, ensure that the choke is set properly. To do so, first try releasing it to adjust it, and then move the plate and tighten all screws once again. To loosen any grit, spray carburetor cleaner spray on the choke's shaft. The carburetor may also need to be adjusted; consult your owner's manual which will guide you on resetting the idle mix screw.

Vanguard V Twin 18 hp. monted in Cushman Motor scooter, runs great at W.O.T and at on quarter throttle, misses at range inbetween

Sounds like your carb needs the fuel/air mix adjusted..uses all the gas at high speed but has excess at low speeds...find your adjusting screw and at med throttle slowly screw it clockwise until the engine starts to sputter then back it out until it starts to sputter again then continue to do this until you reach ideal mix where it runs the best it can..then go slowly through the throttle up and down..when set..unjust your idle speed screw to your ideal idle speed..if this dies not fix ..carb will bed cleaned or rebuilt. Good luck.. Note always push or pull your throttle handle slowly to position avoids gas load up causing sputter and backfire.

Chainsaw starts normally idles well increase speed and cut a log then decrease speed and the motor stops

Have you tried changing the gas you are using? Sometimes with the addition of ethanol, water condensation is attracted and builds up in the system, creating a fuel mix that affects performance. Also, make sure your settings for High speed throttle are correct. You may need to make a small adjustment on the screw marked H for running high throttle.

Be sure the filter is clean, You can use starting fluid or old school lighter fluid to aid starting if has been sitting for some time.

My home lite runs high when its idling and cuts out when its cutting a tree

Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Does the engine have fresh fuel mix? The idle speed screw may need to be adjusted CCW somewhat until the chain ceases to move at idle. Have the H and L jet screws been adjusted? If so, turn both screws CW to stops (lightly), then both turned CCW 1-1/2 turns each. Start the engine and allow to warm up. Open the throttle and turn H CW until the engine speeds up, yet continues to 4-stroke. Proper setting is when the engine 4-strokes, yet immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Let idle, and adjust L until the engine runs fairly smoothly, but will allow the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Hope this helps!

Hyosun Scooter Carb Adjustments

Very good thought process on the adjustments. The throttle screw sets the idle speed and the air screw sets the fuel mix at idle speed. The stock setting is 1.5 turns outward. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two adjusters down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each adjuster one and one half turns outward.

From this point you adjust the idle speed then adjust the air screw for fastest idle speed at that throttle screw setting. If the idle speed becomes faster than desired after adjustment, just reset the throttle screw and then reset the air screw.

A “very helpful” rating for this answer? Thanks!
