You should be able to accsess your menu by pressing the menu button on your remote. You can scroll around until you see a "CC" option. Select that and arrow up down or side to side to select turning closed caption off.

I've tried that as well as trying the 'cc' button on the controller. No good.

Do you have a satellite or cable reciever hooked in that could do closed caption?

We get a black square on Fox and one children's cartoon network only. I have close captioning set off on my Uverse box menu. Is their anything else I need to do on the Olevia setup menu to eliminate the...

This is most commonly caused by the use of a Closed Caption text box. This type of Closed Caption is not always supported by the broadcaster, and results in the appearance of a black rectangle with scrambled or no text.

This can be quickly resolved by adjusting the Closed Caption type to "CC1" or by disabling the Closed Caption feature on your television.

get in the menu and change the close caption with the Olevia remote control

This should fix you right up

If this hasn't been resolved, I do have some steps that will help you out. The link below will walk you through a power scan, which will program the remote to the tv. At that point, you will be able to change the channels on the tv with the remote.

i am afraid you can't fix it at home, when the light goes on had came a current shock, if it is within the warranty period take him to the garage to repair, Maybe they will advise you how to request compensation from the supplier of electricity if it was their fault. good luck.

No sound ,Olevia flat screen HDTV Model #432-S12 Have Dish network but must use Olevia control for sound. Have checked everything I can think of. Mute is NOT on.

Let verify first as to where the problem can be: 1) verify that the speakers are not set to OFF in the in screen menu setup. 2) Try hooking up powered PC speakers to the Audio Line out RCA jacks too see if you get sound, if you do, then the problem can be in the power amp section, if you do not, then the problem can be in the sound processor circuits. Please post back what you find.

TV tuner

Bill, did your tuner go out? I have had the same television for one year. We had a storm and our Buckeye cable went out. All the other tvs came back fine except for the room with the Olevia 232-S12. Everything works now except for the tuner. Cable came in and installed a converter box. Just wondered if you had the same problem (not the storm, but the tuner)
