One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably faulty a computer needs its connections continue its cycle and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps

Hard disk not recognized by computer hd400ld

Check connectors. Check if you installed hard disk correctly (master / slave option on the disk itself). Check BIOS if the drive is recognized. Start computer up with a valid system on a disk. Start up a disk Partition Manager. Assign a drive letter to your new drive. If necessary create partitions and format as NTFS or FAT32.

Im just about to buy a SATA II 500GB hard disk for this MB, i need to know if this would be compatible with the MB??! Thanks

SATA 2 (SATA 300) is not backwards compatible with a SATA (SATA 150) controller. In order to use a SATA 2 drive on a SATA (SATA 1?) controller, the hard drive must have a jumper position to restrict it to using SATA (SATA 150), and a jumper must be installed. Some drives have the jumper position available (e.g. some recent Samsung), some don't (e.g. some recent Maxtor).
This information can also probably be easily found on your hard drive manufacturer's web site.
If your drive does not have the jumper position available, you must return it and get a SATA 2 one that does, or a SATA drive.

Do all motherboards support sata dvd

SATA is a relatively new technology, it is only 5 or 6 years old depending on the MB manufacturer. If this MB doesn't have built-in SATA connectors you may purchase an off-board SATA connector from several web based or local computer stores. This assumes that you are using an OS that supports SATA. Windows 2K and newer should support it adequately.

    Epox motherboard and SATA disk

According to the hard drive manufacturer Maxtor, motherboard host controllers using the VIA and SIS chipsets VT8237, VT8237R, VT6420, VT6421L, SIS760, SIS964 found on the ECS 755-A2 manufactured in 2003, do not support SATA 3 Gbit/s drives. To address interoperability problems, the largest hard drive manufacturer, Seagate/Maxtor, has added a user-accessible jumper-switch known as the Force 150, to switch between 150 MB/s and 300 MB/s operation.[9] Users with a SATA 1.5 Gbit/s motherboard with one of the listed chipsets should either buy an ordinary SATA 1.5 Gbit/s hard disk, buy a SATA 3 Gbit/s hard disk with the user-accessible jumper, or buy a PCI or PCI-E card to add full SATA 3 Gbit/s capability and compatibility. Western Digital uses a jumper setting called "OPT1 Enabled" to force 150 MB/s data transfer speed. OPT1 is used by putting the jumper on pins 5 & 6. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_ATA
