You will need to select your network, and "forget" it. Depending on the operating system you have the setting will be in a different location.

Sometimes just rebooting the computer and printer might be enough to reset it, but otherwise you need to input the key again because it would have a different identifier key number.

The problem you most likely having is that when it was changed from WPA to WEP the security key was removed for a WEP key. When you set it back to WPA it probably asked you for a new key. You will have to change the wireless settings on the printer and the laptop to reflect the new key. I know you may have entered in the same password/key but if any part of it has changed it will see it as a different password. I would open the wireless manager on the laptop (usually an icon by the clock) and edit/retype the password associated with your network. I would also go in the settings for the printer and perform the same actions. If you have a user manual for the printer I would follow it's steps like it was a new network being setup. I hope this Helps a little. I wish I could have given more details but with out knowing you operating system or printer I have to be general in my response.

I dont no how to connect to wi-fi

First of all, turn on your DS. Then navigate to the wrench which is "System Settings."
Select "Internet" and then select "Connection Settings."
Search for the connection your best choice and will display all possible networks in the area. You do this by selecting "search for an access point." You may choose from wireless networks that are unsecured and do not require a password, or networks that are secure with WEP and do require a password.
If you have WPA secured connection simply select "change security settings" to enter a WPA key.
You should be connected.
BE AWARE, some secure connections are not allowed. You can change these on your routers local ip to either WEP or WPA.

The access point's security settings are not supported by the nintendo DS

This means you've got a WPA/2 security connection on your router/access point, whereas the Nintendo DS only supports WEP or open encryption.
You can:
1) change your security from WPA to WEP on your router
2) Purchase a used nintendo wifi stick
3) Set up a second router or access point with WEP security specifically for your DS

My son went to youtube and found a video on how to change WPA to WEP. Now my network is not working on my printer and laptop

you need to reconfigure your printer and laptop to WEP but I don't recommend it as WEP is terrible and easy to crack.
connect to your router via cat 5
open internet explorer and browse to http://192.168.1.1
login with the default login is blank. pass is admin.
go to wireless and to wireless security.
change it back to WPA personal.
change the passphase for the wireless password.
use the new passphase you created and tell your printer/laptop to join your wireless network
you may want to change your wireless password too so your son won't reconfigure your router again.
do this by going to administration and change the password there.

It says that my security settings aren't supported by my ds when i try to connect to wireless.

The DS only accepts WEP encryption. Your network is using WPA encryption. To fix this, open your router's settings menu (Either by accessing the gateway in your browser, or using the disk that came with your router) and find your security settings. Change it to WEP, or just no security at all.

Once you do that, go back to your DS and set up the connection again.

My ds lite wont connect to our internet i have a wireless router the ds says the security settings are not supported by the nintendo ds

WPA and WPA2 are not supported by the DS Lite, only WEP and unencrypted wifi connections are. There is no known way at the moment to make the DS Lite support WPA of any form so your only three options are to go to WEP encryption, use no encryption (not recommended), or set up an adhoc connection on a computer with that is connected to your router that has internet connection sharing enabled.

When my son tries to get onto internet he keeps getting error code: 051099-1 - what is the problem please?

This is a problem with the security settings on your browser. To do what you were doing when the error code appeared, change your security type to WEP, or disable security.

hope this helps.

How to fix error code 051110-1

This code means that it couldn't access the Wi-Fi access point. Make sure you are close enough to your router, and your connection settings match. Also, try using WEP (instead of WPA) if you aren't already.

All it says is the access points securty is not supported by the nintendo ds

this means you are using a newer form of wifi security
  • Note: WEP Security is the only option for multiplayer gaming on any of the Nintendo DS systems.
WEP - If you wish to secure your wireless network, the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DS Lite are only compatible with WEP (Wired Encryption Protocol).
WPA - The Nintendo DSi, Nintendo DSi XL, and Wii are compatible with both WEP and WPA security.

  • Known Compatibility Issues - Most wireless routers are compatible with the Wii console and Nintendo DS systems. However, our experience has shown the following devices may be incompatible:

ensure that your wireless router is not using wpa protection. If it is go into your router and change the wpa security to wep and you will have no problem connection.

Can i change to wep and back without issues

You can but it would mean you also have to DOWNGRADE your wireless security on the router and also reset the connection for the laptop too.

I have WPA and my sons friend brings his DS and can connect to my system so maybe check your settings a little more.
