Not sure if you mean engine will not turn at all (locked) or engine will not start. The engine may have been on its side causing this condition. Clean carb and filter of excess oil. Remove spark plug and clean cylinder and plug of oil that may have entered causing locked condition. Replace oil lost from crankcase. With spark plug removed and kill swith on off, pull rope to blow out oil and verify that motor will now turn. If it still does not turn could be lock rod to crank or faulty pump. If engine had very little or no oil in crank and was run, suspect locked crank, however if your engine has oil senser, this condition would have prevented engine from starting. If you mean that engine will not start, low oil senser most likely preventing start due to low oil. Good luck

Testimonial: "Engine cranks. Cleaned oil from carb and filter. Cleaned plug and gap at .28. Oil level perfect. Sounds like no spark or no gas to carb."

Hi, Domagoj and the usual suspects are:
1. Idle speed improperly adjusted.
2. Inlet system air leak.
3. Leaking accelerator pump.
4. Loose low-speed jet.
5. Plugged low-speed jet.
6. Contaminated or plugged low-speed circuit.
7. Enrichner valve is not seated or leaking.

Honda vt125c been in store in barn for last four years, bought new plugs, battery oil filter oil and air filter. fitted new plugs and battery not yet fitted air filter, not drained oil so still on old oil...

Hi, Malfogg if your bike has been sitting idle for months or years and you did not do any pre-storage maintenance I feel your pain it will probably have a dead battery and not want to start or if it starts it will idle and run poorly then stall, here are the following steps necessary to complete in order to get your bike back to an acceptable running condition.
1. If your battery was 2-3 years old when you last had the bike running you should replace it.
2. If you believe your battery might still be serviceable remove it from the bike and put it on a 1 or 2 amp trickle charger for 24 hours. If it is the old lead acid type with visible cells and acid levels fill each cell to the top line with distilled water and replace the caps, run the vent tube into a plastic or styrofoam cup, any cells that are cloudy/milky replace the battery.
3. After charging remove the leads and let the battery sit for a couple of hours then check the battery voltage with a volt meter, you should have 12.5 volts or better, any readings in the 11 volt range you need to do a proper load test on the battery and replace as necessary, any readings in the 10 volt range you have a dead cell and the battery needs to be replaced.
4. Drain and flush fuel tank, google " how to clean a motorcycle gas tank" find a couple forums to view the different options available.
5. Remove and inspect your air cleaner paper elements that are not oil soaked can be cleaned with a soft brush and low pressure compressed air, oil soaked elements must be replaced. Gause mesh and foam elements can be cleaned by soaking them in a container big enough to completely cover them with a solution of 1 gallon of water and 1 oz. of Dawn dishwashing liquid for small and medium size elements, for monster size double the formula and let soak for at least one hour then rinse with warm water shake off excess and let air dry, "WARNING" do not use compressed air as this will embed micro-sized dirt and road grime and destroy the mesh pattern and stretch foam elements out of shape just squeeze it like a sponge and let air dry, use a fan if you're in a hurry. When completely dry spray a very fine mist of air filter oil evenly around the whole element.
6. Remove the carburetors, disassemble and decontaminate with a carb dip or if you have EFI remove injectors and clean with carb spray and compressed air
7. Remove fuel valve and filter disassemble and clean as necessary, remove, clean, and inspect fuel and vacuum lines and replace as necessary.
8. Replace spark plugs with new ones and check for spark.

Engine will start but smokes real bad and only runs for about ten seconds and sputters out . There is also oil coming out of the exhaust pipe back into the engine compartment.

If this engine is fitted to a small appliance such as a ped mower, it has probably been tipped up, or overfilled, the engine breather feeds into the air filter box where there is normally a paper filter, when the machine is tipped up the engine oil travels up the breather hose and soaks the paper air filter element. Remover the air filter cover, and air filter, now run the engine until it finally stops smoking, check the oil level in the engine.

You will need to get a new filter, and drain some of the oil out of the machine. If you over fill these this will happen. 90% of the time nothing is broken.

Back pressure. You will need to tear into the mantis and replace all the gaskets. You can do it the cheaper way by going to Kragen and just buy a tube of gasket sealent, or you can go to mantis and order the rebuild kit. I recommend the gasket sealent for me that has always worked better

Starts on first pull. Runs about 30 seconds and dies.

Found the air filters on both mowers were so saturated with oil there was not enough air getting to the carburetor. Cleaned the filters first with dishwasher detergent and hot water, dried them, then soaked them in aclcohol to remove more oil. Dried filters, installed on mowers, and both mowers now run fine.

are you sure it's motor oil or air filter oil? Most people who regularly maintenence their air filter at every oil change clean it out and use a new "filter oil" u can find it by K&N it helps to collect the dirt that would otherwise pass thru a cheaper or paper filter causing future problems within the engine or fuel delivery system aka clogged carburator...
