3 possible problems, the inlet screens on the back of the washer are clogged with debris, the water lines feeding the washer may be galvanized (steel) and very
constricted. Or the fill valve is failing. Check for good flow by disconnecting (water off at shutoffs first)
the lines and testing into the washer, if pressure is good then clean inlets, or replace
the fill valve for the washer. (easiest to do this from top of machine by pulling
drum toward the front). The "universal" valves are less expensive by about half
than the ones in the cardboard box. (I have purchased both types and the difference
is the cardboard box and 10 dollars). make sure unit is unplugged before servicing
On the rare occasion I have seen a heat trap ball stuck in a water heater affecting
the hot side only ,which affects all faucets in the home , but only one time in 10 years. Hope this is useful.

Cold water comes in a trickle. Hot water fills as normal.

Shut off the cold water valve and check the hose connections.
Some units have a small mesh screen. Supposed to be on the shut off valve side.
This is there to block sediment and scale from reaching your clothes or internal washer workings.
Check for blockage, clean and put back in service.

Easy to check and if blockage is found... service can be restored in minutes.
Hope this helps!

On demand, the cold water comes only trickling in. Hot is just fine.

If you turn off the water supply and switch the hot and cold hoses see if the problem the cold cycle is only trickling hot water. If the problem switches order a water inlet valve which is about $20.00. To replace the valve turn off the water and unplug the unit. Pull the unit out and remove the back panel. Disconnect the hoses from the valve and unplug the connecter. Replace the valve and plug in the connector reconnection all the hoses. Test the unit before closing it up.

The cold water just trickles into the machine, the hot water fills fine. I removed the hose from the wall and cleaned that filter. Is there another filter I can clean out?

Hello klj... Unscrew the cold hose from both ends and run a wire through the entire length to remove any blockage anywhere. Also check the connection locations looking for calcification of some kind. If it's clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, you need to replace the valve. Joe

Cold water just trickles in. Water flow up to the

Hello, this is going to be a problem with your inlet valve, First thing to do is remove the inlet hoses from the valve and check the filter screen on both the hot and cold for debris blocking the water coming into the machine. If this is clear then your going to have a blockage inside the valve. Since these valves are factory sealed your not going to be able to clear the blockage, you should replace the valve. Hope this helps...Thanks for using fixya!!! Good Luck!! Mike

Kenmore 90 Series Washer : cold water fills at just a trickle:

your hot water goes through the water heater so contaminates settle in the heater. the cold does not, there is a screen inside the fill valve where the hose hooks to the valve on the machine. if this in not plugged then the fill valve will have to be replaced. because of the build up of contaminates..

Hot water just trickles in both of my Kenmore top loader washers

Try reversing hot for cold hoses and see what happens. That will test your valves, hot water pressure, etc. As far as I know, the valve screens are right where the hoses hook up.

Cold water trickles, hot water fills fast as normal

where your water lines connect there is a sc reen inside and if it is clogged with rust lime and or mineral deposit. it needs cleaned out. you can pull it out with a ice pick or something pointy. Check your screen first and if that doesn't fix ya then yes replace the unit.
