Used to use a modem.

I used to use a AT&T modem and everything worked fine. But now I am using my cousin's used At&t router and I connect it and all the lights are staying green except the wireless, but I can't even use the internet browser, just says "Page taking too long to respond."

You need to update the PPPoE login info to reflect your account info.
It's a great piece of hardware if you know how to use it.

I have a linksys wireless g router that worked fine until yesterday. Now it won't connect to the internet. I have a desktop wired to the router and a laptop used wireless.

Check if you can connect to the internet when hooked directly to the modem. If your connection works fine through the modem, then your router needs to be reconfigured.

When i connect through the Linksy router I can't GET INTERNET

If your computer is able to go online through the
modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the
router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the
settings of the router according to the ISP.

and network

Router problems

Make sure you have the cable plugged to the right spot. Your modem to the Internet/WAN port and your computer to port 1, the 2nd pc to port 2. Try to reset the router. There's a reset button at the back of the router. Hold it down for 30 seconds. Then do a power cycle. Unplug the power from the back of the router and also unplug the power from the modem. Wait for 30 seconds. After that, Plug the power back to the modem first, wait for all the lights to be steady then plug the power back to the router. That should do it.

Desktop and two laptops won't work with modem & router now

Probably you used the wrong type of ethernet cable, a crossover one. Try another Ethernet cable but this time a straight one.

Perhaps one of your ethernet cables is bad?

When everything is connected, the "WAN" light on your router should go on, as well as the lights for whatever network connections your are using for your computer.

Obviously the cable that you used to connect your computer directly to the modem is working, so try replacing the other one.

No connectivity to internet

Hi,
Looks like when you reset the router/mdm you have los all yur configuration and back to the default factory settings.

Bridge the modem first .
1. In your web browser browse to »<your mdoms deault gateway> This address will be found in your manual of your modem
2,Depending on your modem make sure you use "Bridged Mode (PPPoE is not used)"

3. Click Save Changes.

4. Then connect the router

5.Configure the router for PPPoE using your ISP uid/pass
6.Configure your wireless using WEP(if applicable)

7.after all configuration shut the desktop, laptop, router, mdm and pwr them in seg..first modem and then router and then your desktop or laptop

Cheers !!!

Ethernet vs. usb

FYI for those people trying to use a ethernet and usb cable from a cable modem - it may work for a while but it won't work forever - your ISP will only allow one IP address out of the modem unless you pay for additional addresses (then you need a switch). Each device you have on the modem is fighting for that IP and eventually it will just quit working (if it works at all).

If you want more than one computer on your network (on the Internet or sharing printers/files, etc) then you need a router or a gateway (cable modem/router combo which I DON'T recommend).

Cannot receive IP from cable modem

I had this problem with another type of router. If the software is fine and the modem shows no problems, its probably your ethernet port on the router. Alot of routers ports go bad after a certain amount of use. It could have been a defect from start and just started to show problems. Logically at this point its hardware. You troubleshot the rest. Last thing to point at is the WAN port on the router going bad.
