It is not the B-board the 5 blinks error code on this model means there is a problem with the video out ICs on the CRT boards. It is unlikely to be related to A or B boards. The problem lies within CR/CG/CB boards wich are attached to the back of red, green and blue CRTs located at the back of the set.

You can obtain the parts from partstore.com. I can find you the boards if you can get me the part number printed on them. As for whether you can replace them yourself, that's a tough question as this is a high-voltage circuit(30,000V) and I think its best left to a tech considering the fact that the CRTs act like giant capacitors and store voltages of this magnitude in them for several days-weeks after being turned off and unplugged.

    eagle338 Apr 04, 2011

Ok. Then its safe to work on. First up you will need to remove the back cover and the CRTs look like tubes. Behind each CRT is a tiny board and those are the onesin context. It is pretty straightforward and shouldn't be too hard.

Its usually has 10 characters startingwith A like A-xxx-xxx-xxx

  • eagle338
    eagle338 Apr 04, 2011

Please stop using capitol letters. The A1054146A part number is the correct one. The other two part numbers should be 10 characters long as well

All 3 have same numbers? Thats weird coz the IC numbers are different too. Let me look up the service manual and get back to you

Hi, can you please confirm the chassis number AX-1X? It will be on a label at the back of the tv.

  • eagle338
    eagle338 Apr 04, 2011

I was just looking at the service manual and it mentions that IC452(CRT drive IC) can also be faulty. Unfortuantely this IC can only be tested with an oscilloscope as we have to measure the voltage pulse. Any chance you have one/can borrow one from a friend so that we can confirm the location of the problem before ordering the boards?

    eagle338 Apr 04, 2011

Well we can do that but I did not want to go by trial and error. Since you alread have the set open check on the 3 CRT boards near IC9101, IC9201, IC9301 for any signs of brown marks near the solder joints. That should help us figure out if the CRT boards are bad or not so that we can be sure its the A-board

  • eagle338
    eagle338 Apr 04, 2011

Ok then please get me the part number off the A-board. If you have trouble locating it let me know and I will give you the service manual that has a listing of all parts including their location.

Yes that is the part. The service manual only lists the first version of the part which are improved upo in later versions. So you should always go by the part number of the board in the tv. As for the disassembly read the section titled "A Board, D Board, and G Board Removal". You just need to remove the A-board, so read only upto that. The replacement is pretty straight forward. Just unplug the connectors from the older board and plug them into the replacement. Be wary of static electricity. Be sure to touch a grounded metal object for a few seconds before touching the board. Repeat this from time to time when you are not in contact with the boards. Wear a pair of cotton/rubber tennis shoes for added protection against any residual voltages that are still in the set.

My KP-46WT510 picture is out of alignment. There is no conversion of the red, blue and green pictures on the screen. They're off by about an inch of each other.
Some tech told me that it was the power control that was bad. I can see the picture, just very blurred.
Is he right? The tv was not move at all before this started happening.

you need a green CRT thats whay you have the white kind of concave lines with the green screen. You can try adjusting the green screen control but you need anew CRT ( tube) the speaker cover has two plastic plugs that get removed on the lower edge os the grille which covers the two screws that hold the grille on. If you need more assistancr or where to get a green CRT let me know as I have a link that has some green and red Tubes for your model.
