My kenmore washing machine will shut down/power off when I try to start a wash cycle. When I hold down the start button, after about two seconds the machine will beep and shut off. There are no error codes given. Any ideas?

  • Anonymous Apr 05, 2011

The cleaning cycle is the only cycle that will run, I removed the top cover and pulled all the DC connections off the CCU and pressed start, power did not shut off. I plugged each one back in one at a time and pushed start after each connection was made. The power shut off after the DL (door lock) was plugged back in. I pulled the door lock assembly out, pulled it apart and checked the contacts and wires inside, everything looked and actuated correctly. I am not sure which direction to go next, as the door lock will function correctly in the cleaning cycle. I would guess their is a short somewhere in the front control panel, (I am not very good at guessing). I have heard their is a way to get the washing machine into a self diagnostics mode, I can't figure out on how to get my unit to do this. (model number is 110.47561603)

My Kenmore Washer won't complete a cycle. Instead the, "Add Garment" "Wash" and "Spin" lights come on

Try resetting it....
To force reset a Kenmore washing machine, you must turn off the power and allow any juice inside the circuits to clear out. This is called a power cycle. Turn the machine off and unplug it or turn off power at the circuit breaker > press and hold the "Start" or "Pause" button for 5 seconds > wait about 5 minutes for the electrical charge to clear out of the washer > power the washer up again.

Electronic panel freezes!

In reference to Kenmore washers in general:
Most washer's can be reset like a personal computer.
If the appliance does not accept inputs from the control panel, follow the Hard Reset steps below to reset the control:
  • Unplug or turn the circuit breaker off for 30 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord into the wall outlet or turn the breaker back on and wait 30 seconds.
  • Press the Pause / Cancel / Stop button twice to clear the display.
  • Start a short cycle, to check operation of the appliance, by selecting a cycle and pressing and holding the start button until the appliance starts.
Note: If the Hard Reset does not work, there may be an internal failure with the appliance, that requires service

Can't select wash cycles

Is the control board displaying any fault codes?

Try disconnecting the power cord to the washer from the wall outlet for 5 maybe 10 minutes...give the control board enough time to power down and hopefully the control board could self-correct itself by resetting. No different than re-booting a computer.

If you still run into the same problem, and if so equipped, try holding down the "end of cycle" signal button for 10 seconds and see if that resets it.

Kenmore 110 washing machine thermally cycles

Does it operate properly if you or something holds the switch down? If yes, then extend the end of the lid switch with hot glue, epoxy, or silicon glue to allow the switch to be pressed sown further. You can also build up the contact area under the lid if you choose--same result.
