Turn off all power to the laptop. Disconnect the battery. Let it dry for a full day and try again. If you still don't have a display after that you may have to replace the motherboard.

You have to be gentle but you can use a tech sized screwdriver and pull the key off. From there you can clean if up a bit more thoroughly.

Spill on key board and now the letters are not typing

If you spilled water then shut off the laptop NOW and let it dry out for about 3 days. If you spilled soda or juice then you will probably need to have the keyboard replace. Hopefully the liquid did not get to the motherboard or then you might have to have that replaced also.

Spilled soda on toshiba laptop m505, keyboard is not working. keys don't stick anymore but not working. what do you recommend to fix it?

You need a new keyboard. The sugar in the soda caused the damage and will further corrode the keyboard.

I would also recommend that you clean the area where the soda may have spilled to on the system board.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

How to Fix Spilt Liquid on bda25ce.jpg?
You accidentally knocked fruit drink or a late night glass of milk on your laptop or your child spilled a good portion of milk directly into your keyboard. You hear a popping noise, the screen goes black. Water by itself is not as bad as milk or juice, both of which are corrosive/acidic, or coffee, tea, soda, etc.
First and most important -Calm Down and unplug the computer from its power source.
Disconnect it from the power cord and remove the battery. If needs, please remove the keyboard. The old adage - Water and Electricity don't mix - is quite true. For your laptop spilled water, let your laptop dry. Do not attempt to turn on the computer for at least 72 hours. Let it sit in a cool, dry place. If you disassembled the laptop, reassemble it after 72 hours have passed.

A soda spill will do this every time. As the Notebook recovers I doubt that the inverter board as gone. But the suger from the soda could be melting and causing a short. The only real solution is to completely dismantle the notebook and clean it with white spirit or similar. It will help if you can download disassembly instructions first! PS Try not to use it for too long without cleaning it.

Yes, unfortunately that is what happened. Soda is the worst on a motherboard.

Spill soda on my laptop keyboard

It is likely the only problem is that the soda is causing the keys to stick. There is probably no damage to any other internal components. Usually, laptop keyboards have a metal-based frame/tray that will protect the internal components from minor spills.

If you want to get rid of the cracking sound, you'll need to purchase a replacement keyboard from the laptop manufacturer or another source such as eBay, and then remove the sticky keyboard and replace it with the newly purchased one.
