SOURCE: new Hoover Steam Vac's brushes do not spin

The brushes are turning by an air driven turbine. The turbine has a pivot bushing made of steel inside of it that gets rusty because of the water that is running through it. The turbine will have to be replaced. You can find a genuine hoover replacement part by following the link below.

SOURCE: Hoover Model U8185-900 beater bar part keeps

I'm not sure why this is happening. Perhaps if you would contact Hoover and explain the problem to them such that it appears that there is a safety issue with their product, they might be more cooperative. If that fails, I have had luck writing letters to the CEO's of companies. You can usually find the CEO name and address online. This is probably not exactly the info that you desire, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents.
Good luck!

SOURCE: The spin brushes on my hoover steam And vac don't

Either the pin on the brushes that attaches to the motor shaft is broken, or the motor is dead. Did you check the switch on the front of the unit to make sure it wasn't turned off?

My hoover steam vac is making a horrible noise and smells like its burning

Something may have jammed the brush roller, preventing rotation. This causes the motor shaft to rotate in one spot on the belt, causing the burning rubber smell. Eventually, the belt will break. You need to find what caused the jam and remove it. It would be a good idea to replace the belt as a burned belt is unlikely to last much longer.

Wattage for Kirby Sentria G10D

The conversion of Amps to Watts is governed by the equation
Watts = Amps x Volts

For example 1 amp @ 110 volts = 110 watts
your case 7 amp @ 120 volts = 840 watts
unless you are running it at 230v but I don't think you can
I would look for one rated for Volt-Amps instead of watts
It's best to round up to be safe add 40 - 60 watts

Need to change a belt on my Hoover Concept One Power drive

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. On the Hoover Concept One Power Drive Upright vacuum there are 2 belts, a drive belt and a power drive belt, always use the Hoover genuine belts and for the best cleaning always change you vacuum belts every 4 to 6 months for the best cleaning. !st, remove the bottom plate and cut off the old belts – then you need to lift up the one side of the brushroll that has the pulley side for the longer of the 2 belts and slide it on. Replace the brushroll, B4 you go to far remember which went on 1st, the power drive belt (smaller belt) or the brushroll belt, in either case hook the belt(s) onto the pulley 1st and then use a belt puller or a screwdriver with a hook or bend on the end and stretch the belt(s) onto the motor pulley and then track the belts in a straight line – do this on both belts. Once you have done this then replace the bottom plate. Check your owner’s manual in the trouble shooting guide to see if they also have suggestions or check with your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or contact the Hoover website or the Hoover factory cust serv phone # listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. I have a similar Hoover “SteamVac” and the vacuum does not create steam as you stated, but you do have to use the hottest water with cleaning solution and the Hoover will clean your carpet by spraying down the solution, the scrubbing brushes will loosen the dirt and the vacuum will pickup the excess water until the holding tank is full and then you have to empty it, and then start again. The word “Steam Vac” is something that the Hoover factory labeled but so far I have not seen anything that actual produces “Steam” while cleaning. Feel free to contact the Hoover factory with your complaint @ the information listed below.

It sounds to me like you have multiple problems with your power drive; a burning smell and the brushes don’t turn, and the dop is on March, 2008 – the Hoover Steam Vac Shampooer has a one year factory warranty and it could be a broken part for the brushes won’t turn or a belt would cause the burning smell. If it is not the belt or broken part it probably is the motor of which you should take it to a authorized Hoover vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or to contact the Hoover factory cust serv listed below or the Hoover website for information. If it is the motor the factory authorized dealer will replace the part for the motor and the broken part for the brushes, if it is the belt that would be an out of pocket expense. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Does anyone know what the wattage is on a Kirby Ultimate G? I'm moving to the UK and need to know what size transformer to buy! Thanks

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. My suggestion is that you contact the Kirby Co in Cleveland listed below and they will instruct you on the wattage and also what you need for a transformer, or look underneath the vacuum and there should be a sticker stating the amps and maybe the watts, but also the information may be in the owner’s manual or they will mail one out to you, there might be a local Kirby dealer in your area that might have a manual as well. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

I am not sure as to where to find the owners manual for the Hoover Vacuum in Northern Ireland – is to look in the yellow pages of the phone book under vacuums or to call the Hoover Co in the United States and they will be able to help you by mailing the owners manual to the customer to sometimes you can down load the owners manual on the Hoover website

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
You may have a bad water pump, bad gasket, the water release valve could be broken, or the water tank is not sitting on the opening properly or the trigger assm is not closing properly. Feel free to check with you local vac dealer or a new or a good used part if you find out what is wrong. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
