Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Odd problem alright. So you have to hold in the power button for the remote to work, and the power button won't turn the TV on by itself? Or am I misunderstanding. It sounds like the power switch relay is bad... and the board the receives messages from the remote is perhaps on the same circuit. The switch will need to be replaced. I wasn't able to locate parts online for this. RCA has a link to parts, but all they have is a replacement lamp. However, there is a service center locater link on RCA's page. http://direct.where2getit.com/cwc/apps/w2gi.php?client=rcathomson&template=searchretail_new Most places should be willing to sell you the parts you need, or get you in contact with those who do sell them. Or, you could just take it to them to be fixed.

If both the remote and the front panel buttons do not work, I would be thinking that it is a problem with the TV's main uPC area. This type of fault can be involved, and would require factory level service where the fault can be properly analysed.
I can tell you in advance, that this type of fault can be expensive to service.

this is the same type of problem happening with other rca models and I know it is the EPROM CHIP but why this is failing is either because of design flaw , dirty enviroment that they were made in , to much voltage or current to the chip or too much of a draw from the chip causing it to fail . Or even a random frequency from the IR sensor or its circut I'm still investigating and testing.
leave the tv unplugged for at least 3 weeks durring this time resolder any solder that don't look good , I did this and it lasted for about 6 months(always plugged in to the wall) before it started doing it again. model # 27v412t

try putting the tv on channel 00, that is where this tv apparently shows the input from at least one on the video channels.
