Simple stuff first - power and connections to monitor good? Anything at all displayed as the machine is switched on? Yes: can you access safe mode (F8 when windows starts), if so enter windows and right click on desktop and choose properties, change display resolution to 1024x768 for example. No:
Any work inside the machine you should disconnect power first and preferable earth yourself when you are touching the boards.
Video card (where the monitor is connected) is seated correctly. Take out and put back in.
Try another monitor and cable to ensure these are working.
Check you have the 12v cable connected to the motherboard from the PSU. It is an additional cable that is required on some motherboards and can prevent display.
Does the motherboard make any beeps? Just one is good, more is not.
If you only get one beep and you have checked all above, then maybe a problem with video card - is it a separate card - see inside in slots where your monitor cables are plugged in. Could be loose, need reseating.
Best of luck

I have a gateway sx2865-ur308 and it powers on but screen so t come on

Did you make sure that everything is plugged in correctly? Are you sure that the monitor power cord is plugged into the wall and is receiving power? those are one of the signs that the power cord or the cable to the desktop is not plugged in when you are not able to see the monitor and the light at the bottom of the monitor is not lite up. If it is lite up and it is green and it still does not show your operating system when you turn on the computer, then it is more than likely your video card. but if your monitor is plugged in and the light at the bottom is orange then it is the monitor that needs replacing.

Viewsonic VG700b bug

The light turning to orange means the monitor is not getting a signal from the computer. Check your monitor cable at both ends and make sure it is in very tight and secure at the computer end as well. Also check to see if the computer stays on when the light goes to orange on the monitor. The power cord for the computer might be loose.

No display

if your monitor is not connected to a pc, then it cannot find a vga signal input and therefore go into power saving mode, which is indicated by the orange light, but as soon as you connect to the pc and power on the light will go green and the monitor will power up.
