No, you won't have warranty coverage. That goes with the original owner.
I looked the parts diagram and found that there are 2 switches, although I could not find both of them on the diagram. It sounds like the switch may be faulty. Did you clean it up to make sure there was nothing binding anywhere?
Check all the wiring to be sure the connections are tight. Also, there is a cover on the switch. Remove this and check to be sure the connections are made and secure.
