Error 5800 on Canon Pixma MP170

Solution #1 worked with my MP170 but it could be described more clearly, as follows:-

1. If the power is on, turn it off (press the on/off button).

2. Hold down the stop/reset button (red triangle in red circle).

3. Whilst still holding down the stop/reset button, hold down the on/off button.

4. Whilst still holding down the on/off button, release the stop/reset button.

5. Now press the stop/reset button twice, quickly.

6. Next release the on/off button.

7. Wait untill the LCD display shows “Canon idle” (this may take a few minutes).

8. Now push the stop/reset button 4 times in succession, quickly.

9. Press the on/off button twice, quickly.

10. Now press the on/off button to switch the power off.

11. Finally, press the on/off button to switch the power back on.

This sets the ink pad counter to zero, even though the pad still contains ink.

Remove ink from the pad, as follows:-

Open the lid of the printer to reveal the cartridge track and ink pad.

Winkle out the ink pad, using a pin or a small screwdriver or tweezers.

Wash the ink pad in clean water, squashing the pad to remove the ink.

Dry the clean pad by squashing it between sheets of kitchen paper.

Replace the pad, taking care to fit it between the alignment notches.

Amen!

Kenwood ddx5032 will not upload pictures for background

I finally found a way to change the Background Image on my Kenwood DDX5032.

Firstly I made up some JPEG (.jpg) images in Photoshop and made these 480(pixels wide) x 234 (pixels high). I then put three of these images on to a USB Thumb Drive, made sure my stereo was on "Tuner" (source set to Tuner) and then switched off the ignition. Then I followed these steps:

  1. With ignition off, plug in the USB Thumb Drive,
  2. Turn ignition to accessories,
  3. Pressed the "Setup" button,
  4. Pressed the "User Interface" button,
  5. Pressed the "Memory" button listed under "User Background" (as this was no longer greyed out),
  6. Selected the picture file I wanted to load,
  7. Waited for the picture to upload in to the stereo's memory and the screen to return to the "User Interface",
  8. Pressed the "Change" button under "Background Change",
  9. Selected the picture I wanted and pressed "Enter",

...and voila, it was done. The instruction manual shows additional information if you have multiple folders or files. I hope this works for you as it did for me.

Cheers,
Glenn

Forgot my code.

What button should I push if I don't have an "auto" button, both on the remote or the head unit? I have a dNx-5140. All help would be appreciated.
