Question about Viking VDB450 Dishwasher

1 Answer

First of all, I'm not 100% sure what make my dishwasher is, as the previous owner didn't leave the manual. I do know it's a Viking, however, and I know that it looks a lot like the icon next to the VDB450. Anyway, here's my problem: the dishwasher won't rinse correctly. It's not immediately evident to the eye, but soap bubbles rise in our water glasses when we fill them up with H20. Also, there's a VERY visible layer of soap scum on the bottom of the dishwasher. Any tips? Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi

The issue seems to be with the float switch assembly that is bad and should be replaced. Float assembly is found inside the dishwasher's tub, on the bottom. The water that fills your dishwasher lifts the float, and when it reaches a certain level, it acts as a trigger for the float switch. The float triggers the float switch to shut off, thereby shutting off the flow of water into the dishwasher. A defective switch may interfere with your dishwasher's filling and/or draining ability. Use your voltmeter to test the switch. Set the device to the ohms setting x 1. Take each probe and touch them to one switch terminal each. This should produce a reading of either zero or infinity. Continue to touch the probes to the terminals, and press down on the switch's button. The reading should change to the opposite extreme. If your switch fails either of these tests, you should replace it. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Possible bad door switch, thermostat or timer issue, call for service, make sure the tech. knows how to fix Asko dishwashers as that is what is in on the inside. Be sure that you are getting power to the unit.
