The reason you get this message is either that the maps are locked or unselected. Details of how to solve this problem are at http://www.fixya.com/support/r6197735-no_detailed_maps_found_support_routing

Comes up "No detailed maps

I had the same model of Garmin that you currently have now. I would only get that message when the maps were not current. You can go to Garmins website and they will sell you the current CD with all of the current maps for your area. You install the CD on your computer and then connect your Garmin with a USB cable to your computer and it will then download the latest maps on to your Garmin unit. Garmin updates their maps once or twice a year I think. Go to www.Garmin.com to see the pricing for the current CD for your area.

I hope this helps you out

Garmin 260...unit turned on with good signal and fully charged batery and plugged into car power. display asks to AGREE to terms and conditions, then goes to WHERE TO or VIEW MAP, if either optionis...

Have you tried a master reset or updated the software?
Note: A master resetwill erase all waypoints or favorites and will restore your unit to the defaultfactory settings. But who cares if you have problems, right?
  1. Start with the unit OFF and unplugged from power
  2. Touch and hold the lower right corner of the screen with an index finger or the eraser end of a pencil
  3. Continue touching and holding the lower right hand corner of the screen then power the unit ON
  4. Release the power button when the device powers ON
    • You will see a new message: Do you really want to erase all user data?
  5. Remove your finger from the touchscreen when this message displays
  6. Touch Yes
The device will automatically reset. Follow the onscreen prompts then place your device in an area with a clear view of the skyuntil it acquires satellites.
IF this does not work, try updating to current software and maps.

When I type in Ontario looking for province it comes up "no match found" so cannot proceed with address function.

Are you having any other trouble with the map -- weird display or stuff missing or error messages?

I ask because the data that should be appearing is part of the map database and I'm beginning to suspect corrupt files.

Did you recently update your firmware? Manually, or using [shudder] web updater

Check to see if your maps are checked off. Go to settings, Map, then press Map Info at the bottom of the screen. Make sure City Navigator North America NT v8 has a check mark on it.

Click on the wrench symbol, then the map icon and then "map info". Make sure your map is checked. If it's not, then your map is off. When its off you wont find anything.

if that doesnt help follow the below procedures...

1. Connect your GPS to a USB port on the computer.
2. Save the attached file to the Desktop and rename to “Super Ultimate Nuvi fix.zip”
3. (Unzipping the file) Right-click on the Super Ultimate Nuvi Fix.zip and choose “Open With” and click “Compressed (zipped) Folders”.
4. Drag both files (Map Fix.bat and driveletter.vbs) to the Desktop.
5. Close that window.
6. Double-click on the garmin_rmu_cnnant2010C.exe file and wait for it to extract.
7. When you see the "Welcome to the Garmin Map Update." screen, DON'T click next, Instead, double-click on the Map Fix.bat file.
8. Press Enter and wait for the program to prompt for information.
9. Enter “006-D0322-05” (without the quotes) and press Enter.
10. Press Enter.
11. Click Next on the "Welcome to the Garmin Map Update." screen.
12. When it is done building the map image, click Exit.
13. Press Enter. This will start copying the gmapprom.img file over to the nüvi. It will take 45 - 60 minutes to copy over.
14. When it says "The mapping on your device has now been updated." press Enter to close the window.
The desired map region should now be on your GPS.

if that doesnt help you will have to do a hard reset of ur unit....

good luck

regards
iversh

Garmin nuvi says, "no detailed maps found to support routing."

I am very sorry to hear that you are having problems with the unit. You
may need to switch the unit on and press and hold the centre of the
screen until the message ?No detailed maps? message disappears.

If your map detail is missing, then the map information may have been
disabled. To check to see if the mapping has been disabled, follow the
steps below:

From the Where to? and View Map page, touch the Spanner icon, settings
(Tools).
Touch Map.
Touch Map Info.
The unit should display the name of the map that is loaded to the unit.
The box in front of the map name should have a tick in it. If it does
not, touch the box to place a tick in it.

Then please test by searching for an address.
