Maybe if you resolve the reason it's self-protecting...

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

You seem familiar with these technical issues so I'll assume you have swapped keyboards, Can you actually access BIOS, check if everything is online, Reset the Bios settings to their default (There should be an F button at the bottom)and try and reboot and hopefully this will work, there is a chance your motherboard has an issue try finding out the manufacturer and see if they can provide any help.Best of Luck

I have a punch p850.4 amp that goes into protect mode as soon as its powered up , have checked and double checked all connections to make sure its all hooked right . even downloaded the pdf for the amp .

I have exactly the same problem, try a different speaker wire from your sub terminal to your amp terminal, if no luck you may have a loose connection on the wires on your sub, due to vibrations etc they can sometimes come loose, but very rare. worth checking though. 1 loose connection can make the amp go into protection mode. If all of these are fine, start from the beginning, ( I have tried this and i think its my speaker wire shorted out) 1st dissconnect all wires from amp. Then connect ground first, then your live. then power up amp, it it works andd not in protect mode your earth and live are fine, then connect your remote, then test, then speaker wire , then test, that way you can rule out bad connections and find any fault.

Stuck in protection mode tried everything voltage good wires good ground good open/close button dosen,t help me at all love amp please help

everything you've tryed is useless(with respect) because amp has shorted output transistors one or more and amp is in protection mode to protect your amp from further damage.take it to repair shop or try to locate blown transistor yourself.good luck

Found this on techsupportforum.com and it worked for me. Good Luck!

Press and HOLD all following buttons: Power, Load/Eject (I don't have this button, so I skipped this), Stop, B&W, Color. Continue to hold the buttons until "Init Eeprom" appears on the printer screen. Press Color button to clear protection counter.

The panel then told me to press the power button, I did. When it came back up, everything was fine.
