Question about Hitachi CP-X1250 Multimedia Projector

2 Answers

My Hitachi CP-X1250 lamp will not light because the red temp light blinks after a boot up sequence fails. The fans do run momentarily, but then shut down. New lamp was just installed. Paul

Not sure if I can follow your instructions. When you say the input button, do you mean the enter button on the machine and do you mean the reset button on the machine instead of the undo button?

I tried your instructions assuming input = enter and undo = reset, but there was no change in function. The projector still has the on button in red and the temp light blinking red.

The lamp type used should be "DT 00601"; high pressure mercury lamp. After replacement, reset should be done.
To reset the lamp time:

Turn on the projector, and reset the lamp timer.

(1) While the projector running, press the MENU button to open the menu.

(2) Choose the "OPTION" on the menu using the UP / Down button, then press the =>

button or ENTER button.

(3) Choose the "LAMP TIME" using the UP/DOWN button, then press and hold the

RESET button for 3 seconds.
(4) Choose the "RESET" using the UP button

If the lamp is not installed properly, and the cover have not closed well, the unit will fail to work. Take out the lamp carefully, and reinstall it once more, and try.
Lamp Installation

After making sure that the projector has cooled

adequately, slide the knob of a lamp cover lock as

shown in the Figure. Then, one side of the lamp

cover is raised. Pull up the lamp cover and remove

Unscrew the 3 screws, and slowly pull out the lamp

by the handle. Be careful not to touch the inside of
the lamp case.

Insert the new lamp, and tighten the 3 screws firmly
to lock it in place.

Interlocking the 2 tabs of the lamp cover to the

projector, put the lamp cover on the projector. Then

push the point of the lamp cover to fix it, as shown in

the Figure. Make sure that the lamp cover does't
come up.

Check that the projector cover is in place and secure. All parts of the cover need to be secure. Press down on the cover until it clicks.

Finally, check the temperature indicator light. If it is blinking then the temperature inside or outside of the projector is higher than normal and needs to be reduced to prevent damage to the machine.

Whenever there is light comes on, first check the vents on the projector for obstructions. Move anything blocking the air vents or clean them if needed.

Next, check the temperature of the room. If the room temperature is abnormally high, above 104 degrees, reduce the temperature of the room or move the projector to a cooler location.

Finally, check if the air filter is clogged with dirt and debris and clean it if needed. To clean the filter, push up on the bottom of filter and pull it out of the projector. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dirt and debris and reinsert the filter.

Follow once again the procedure mentioned below for lamp timer reset:

One Press the ON the button.
Two Press the INPUT button.
Three Press the UNDO button.
Four Press the LEFT ARROW button.
Five Press the ENTER button.
Six Press the RIGHT ARROW button.
Seven Press the ON the button AGAIN.

If everything worked OK you will see a LAMP 0000H displayed on the screen.

If you are still facing the problem the culprit is the bulb which is replaced. Can you give me the details how the bulb was replaced so that I can conclude whether it is due to a bad connection or faulty bulb?

Hope this helps.

Red power, blinking red temp

if the Lamp error and Temperature error lights are flashing red this means that there are two separate errors.

  • A flashing lamp light means the lamp failed to ignite. It could be a lamp driver problem or lamp failure. Replace the lamp to resolve the issue. If the issue is not resolved, then service the projector.
  • A flashing Temperature light signals a fan error. Turn the projector off and allow it to cool down. If the light is still flashing after the projector is turned back on, service the projector.

My Hitachi CP-X275 Multimedia Projector will run then shutdown by itself and not show a picture.

Normally when a unit like this shuts down, there are indicators that will show why. Are any of the lights on or blinking when this happens? The most common cause is overheating. Is the lamp indicator RED or the temp indicator? A little more detail would be helpful here. Can you also indicate how long the unit runs before shutting down?

Right after startup, the temp light comes on and the projector shuts off.

The thermal switch could be bad, but I'd say that there is a fan not working. A model number helps when asking what is wrong with your projector.

Lamp turns-on and off

lamp ballast and/or power supply is going. the ballast has to boost the charge up to 140 vdc, and after it's up to it full strength, it drops down to 40vdc to maintain. if the ballast can't get up to the proper voltage, it shuts down. or the lamp itself will not hold the voltage, and therefore needs replacing.

I have a 55 inch Hitachi HDTV it is around 3 years old. as of yesterday it was working fine and today it will not turn on. when i press power button i get a buzzing noise and it sounds like it wants to...

If you hear the Lamp fan turn, it is probably the lamp it self that has failed. If you do not hear the lamp fan turn then the fan could be bad or binding.
Hope this helps,
