Question about Dell Computers & Internet

2 Answers

Hi there. I have a 2007 Dell Dimension E521 that's been freezing up a lot lately the past few weeks. This weekend I noticed that the computer will no longer start up. When I turn it on now, I see a bright solid amber light in the front, the fan kicks into overdrive and the computer will not boot up. I noticed the CD ROMs still open and close though. I did not hear any loud "pops" like during a power surge (lost a computer that way once) and the sides of the computer are not hot in any way. Any ideas? Please let me know. Thanks, Sean

Try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs then click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f this should schedule to happen on reboot which will scan for and attempt to recover bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive or
click startcontrol panel administrive tools, computer management ,disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now, start should schedule this task when restart
do not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage your computer
then you should test or replace all leads make sure they are securely seated and are not bad/faulty that are attached to your (((motherboard to your hard drive)))
then click start all programs accessories system tools defragment your hard drive
you might have to install more RAM random access memory to check how much ram you have
to check the details on your computer
click start right click on my computer select properties you will see all imformation about your computer including installed ram
scroll to the bottom toolbar (bottom of screen) right click you can select task manager applications also processes you will see whats running on your computer you might have virus slowing your computer also select users you will see who is using your computer

I dont know how too reboot my dell dimension E521?

Dell seem to not make a lot of computers with reboot/reset button. If Windows is already running, you can turn it off or reboot it from the start menu. What you can also do is to hold down the power button for at least 5 seconds. Usually it will turn it off itself if you hold it for long enough.

Dell E521 blinks on and stays powered up but does not start start up sequence can't F12 or anything as it does not get that far

Just had similar problem with optiplex 755. Solved problem by resetting bios. Remove power cord. remove bios reset jumper. (check owners manual or dell website for the location) Dell says to remove for 5 seconds and replace to reset bios. I find this to be incorrect. I had to unplug cord remove jumper, plug cord in, restart, shut down, unplug cord replace jumper, reinsert power cord and restart. Had to change a few configs in bios based on computer configuration after restart. Hope it works for you. Seen same problem on optiplex 750 and 755 in last week.

Dell dimension e521 won't turn on

hi !
If your have already changed the power supply, there is still a lot of main points of failure in the no power situation. If the motherboard has a flea light, then it could be one of the components. It can be the memory(if no beeps are heard, then memory is not the cause), it can be the processor, or it can be the control panel, in which the power button is attached. Try to check the cables as well.
Cheers !

Main fan on dell dimension e521 on full blast when comp on

Do you have your PC in some sort of enclosed space with little ventilation? If so, the constant fan activity is your PC trying to keep things cool inside. With little ventilation comes great heat, and PCs like it cool.
