Starts, then stops.

My Z740 camera has been refurbished. It was working fine until now. With the best batteries installed, the camera turns on then immediately turns off. I have played w/ the on/off switch and cleaned the pickups in the battery compartment but it continues to do the same .thing. If you don't have a solution, would you know where I could send my camera for repair - Thank you. Brett , Ashland KY.

I have the same problem. Sometimes, giving the camera a few "taps" solces it for a while and it works (though it soon turns off again). I have cleaned the battery contacts but do not believe this is the issue. Personally, I think the camera is shutting off because it "thinks" the batteries have run out (or there is an over-voltage). The problem is exactly the same using an external power supply.

SOURCE: Kodak DX6440 won't power up using batteries

There's a chance that the drop is irrelevant to your problem. You could try using a small eraser to clean the battery contacts down in the chamber (make sure to dump out any eraser particles) and try a new CRV-3 battery, which because of it's slightly longer body produces a little more pressure on the contacts. If that doesn't work to improve things then your cam might need a repair, your call there. Good luck

SOURCE: camera turns off immediately when I turn it on.

I had this problem as well. After spending an hour with a service representative from Kodak, I was told that in order to fix it, it would cost me $60 + $10.95 shipping + applicable state sales tax. I was frustrated when I realized that I may as well just buy a new camera. I then proceeded to gently poke/prod/slam the camera against my hand, but nothing changed. Then, in a moment of inspiration, I turned it on and gently held the outside of the lens as it turned off. When I tried to turn my camera back on, the problem (whatever it was) was fixed!

If i go to favorites it works fine switch over to the camara it starts to work the screen goes off and stops

I may be able to help with your Kodak EasyShare Z740 that works in favorites but turns off in camera mode. This is a common problem.

This is either caused by a problem extending the lens, or a computer brain problem that is reset with a button press sequence.

Try these steps to fix your camera.

I hope that helps.

Bought a kodak easy share z740 camera I love it very much but it just stopped working and I paid over 400.00 for it can I get it fixed or replaced

Won't turn on at all, or shuts off after a few seconds? This problem is frequently due to weak/worn out batteries or corroded battery terminals inside the camera. if charging/replacing the batteries doesn't clear the problem, remove the batteries and wipe the terminals with a soft cloth (heavy corrosion may require a fine wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue left in the camera by the cleaning. Clean the terminals on the batteries in the same manner, and then replace them in the camera. This cures most problems, but if it doesn't work for you, check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/repair/troubleshooting/troubleshooting.jhtml?pq-path=6198

It uses a simple Q&A format to diagnose problems and propose solutions.

Fix flash on kodak z740

to try if the flash is working..

*Turn off the camera.
*Install a set of new or fully charged batteries into the camera.
*Turn on the camera.
*Press the Flash Status button to scroll through the flash options until Fill Flash (the lightning bolt icon alone, with no other letter or symbol) is displayed. This forces the camera to use the flash.

If the flash of your camera will not work, refer to www.kodak.com/go/itg for interactive troubleshooting and repair
