Question about SPL Dynamics Z2X-1600 Car Audio Amplifier

1 Answer

Amp green then red light then nothing problem please help

Hi I have a SPL dynamics z2x-1600 car amp. Just recently I was going down the road and all of a sudden the bass stopped so i stopped at a nearby gas station to see what the problem was . I looked at my amp and it was flashing green and red then nothing. When ever the light was green the subs wold make a funny sound and vibrate just a little bit. Please help me to try to figure out if it is my subs or my amp that is blown.

It sounds like the output transistors have failed. To eliminate other possible problems, read through the following page.

I have a Dynamic D600 in an '09 Ford F150. Whenever it hit a rough spot in the road, the green light will stay on but the amp will quit playing. I can reach back and tap the amp with my hand and...

are you playing CDs while this happens?

ill bet your CD is skipping on bumps.

play your radio or ipod input and run some rough roads...ill bet your 'pause' goes away.

It goes right to protect mode when i plug in the rcas

plug one at a time to check for a short on either the right or left channel. if both do it, then try another rca cable. if that does it too, then unplug your speaker outs and plug your rcas back in and check. get where i'm going with this. process of elimination. if nothing helps, then there's a short in your amp.

Power protec is signal red on

Missmatched impedence, ie you are running your amp which is 4ohm load to a sub which is 2ohm load, insufficient grounding could be the cause, blown transistor within the amp possibly.

550x2 subs....SPL z2x-820 Amp

The 230 watt amp is a little small for your subs. They'll work, but if you are looking for max SPL, you won't get it. To push those Audiobahn's to their potential pavement shaking max, I would recommend an amp in the range of 500-600 rms (2-channel bridged) or 1000 watts rms monoblock.

Hope this helps.

Amp not working

If the amp is in protect mode, it probably has shorted output transistors. To eliminate other possible problems, read through the following page:

Wireing instructions

on the amp there shud b a white and red plug hole this is for the audio cables out of the back of your stereo. there should also be a L with a + & - and a R with a + & - these go to the left an right speakers. if for a sub you do + from one side and - from the other. There should also be a part one for the earth, the other for a cable to run out of the back of the stereo to the amp this is blue cable used and then there shud be a power cable running off the battery with a inline fuse.
hope this was of sum help get back to me if u need mre

Do i need compassitor i have stock radio with brand new subs with XL2 1600 amp

This commonly happens when the ohm load is too low. Double-check the wiring to confirm that the speakers are wired properly.
