Question about Emerson EWL20S5 20 in. EDTV-Ready LCD Television
How old is the tv? This is a power supply symptom. You will need to take the back of the tv off and check for puffed capacitors on the power pcb. This is the board where the power cord plugs into. Lay tv face down on a cushioned surface large enough to support the tv frame. You do not want to damage the panel. Then remove the back. If there are puffed capacitors, replace them with equal or slightly higher valued capacitors. The value rating for capacitors are mf and voltage, printed on the capacitors. If they look good, you will need to check the dc voltage output from the pcb usually about three connectors in the same area. One way or another, it is a power supply problem, usually corrected by replacing caps, but if that doesn't work, you will need to replace power pcb
