I have a attention input not supported recanagle that continually scrolls around and around my screen and i cannot acces the menu or do anything. I disconnected it from my modem and then from the monitor...

Hello,
This is most likely because your computer is trying to display a screen resolution higher then tht monitor can support. Turn your PC on, and press F8 until you see a black and white menu. Select safe mode. Run safe mode and when windows loads, goto your control panel. Select Display and navigate to the resolution / settings tab. The screen resolution should be set to 1440 x 900 for this monitor to display video correctly.
If you need more detailed information on where to find the display resolution settings in windows I will need the name of the OS you are running... XP, Vista, Win 7 etc..
Regards, Chris

It was working fine yesterday. Today is states VGA no signal. What is the problem.

A number of things can cause "No Signal" on a monitor

1) Check the cable between the monitor and PC is properly connected
2) If the PC has more than one display port try changing the display port the monitor is plugged into
3) Try an alternative cable between the monitor and the PC
4) Check that the correct input is selected on the monitor

My hp w17e will only work for about 5-7 seconds when I first turn it on, and then goes blank. If I turn it off and back on again, the same thing happens. Is it fixable?

You should do some research here first: www.lesliewong.us/blog/2005/05/02/hp-pavilion-f1703-flat-panel-display-blackout-solution/ It's an old blog, but could offer a solution worth exploring. Just remember to rate this response after you do your research there. 12fixlouie

My w17e monitor says "input not supported"

Not quite sure what the question is that you have not already answered for yourself.
That monitor's maximum resolution is given as 1440 X 900 at 60Hz and installing a more powerful video card won't change that.

W17e says "input not supported"

Hi - here's what I found about your wide screen monitor:

The HP Pavilion w17e LCD wide-screen monitor has the following features:
  • 1440 x 900 factory-set resolution
  • Supports VGA analog signal video input
  • Plug and play capability, if supported by your computer system
  • On-screen display (OSD) adjustments for ease of setup and screen optimization
  • Energy Star compliant
Download & install the drivers for the monitor based on the version of Windows you are running from the HP site below:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&cc=pe&dlc=es&product=3377546&

Once the drivers are installed, your issues should be resolved - the driver will allow only the modes that can be displayed on the monitor - probably giving you options for resolutions you hadn't seen before.
